Default the Recommend An Artist/Ask About an Artist Thread.

I meant to make this awhile ago. Anyway, this thread is for if you want to check out an artist but don't know where to start, or theres an artist you think people should check out but your thread got ignored, is like a mini-plug.

Vashti Bunyan:

Extremely underrated british folk artist from the 60s, who was publicized to be the next Marianna Faithfull and the female version of Bob Dylan. Though I think shes more like a female version of Nick Drake. She was big in the psych-folk genre, and after releasing her one LP Just Another Diamond Day she disappeared for like thirty years to come back and work with acts such as Devendra Banhart and Animal Collective.

For fans of: Nick Drake, Joanna Newsom, Devendra Banhart
Suggested tracks: Love Song, Rose Hip November, Diamond Day

I wanted to upload the songs but my computer sucks right noww.

Days In December

Definitely not the shite UK band. They were a mid 90's midwest, Illinois to be exact, indiemo [midwest mid 90's indiemo=soft tone poppy vocals, chill junk] band who's only official release was the Sweater Weather split on Polyvinyl. Which has just one song from them, Main In Vine, which is a really wonderful song. But they did a live set on the radio which has like four more songs that are also pretty good. Kind of like Christie Front Drive and Boys Life but better.

Sweater Weather Split

WEFT Radio Sessions

The split is all of 10 minutes so listen to it.

Loop-a U.K shoegazer band that released the phenomenal A GILDED ETERNITY, they took the unusual step (at the time) of dropping the vocals right down into the mix and as a result sounded wholly original at the time.

Julian Cope Presents Head Heritage | Unsung | Reviews | Loop - A Gilded Eternity

I have the album and can upload-when I figure out megauploads stupid log in policy!

You don't have to log in to use megaupload. Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire is better anyway.

You said in another thread you've never upped anything so I'll outline the basics. Have everything you want to up in one folder [under 100 mb is really for the best]. Right click on it, send to, compressed folder. Go to an upload site, click on the words browse and select your compressed folder.

Ok-thanks SWIM-will try that link.

I know about compressing etc and am a member of Megaupload-but i usually delete cookies after each browser session, and MU just would'nt recognise me after trying to log in, so I could'nt send files.

If you do want the album-LMK and will get it sorted sometime.
