If its a debut and you're sure is tell me that also, and if its not tell me too.

acratertocoffin 05-18-2007 03:11 PM

CTTS had the self-titled before As the Roots, no?

sleepy jack 05-18-2007 03:16 PM

It was a demo though, and had some tracks from at the roots undo so I considered it an EP.

acratertocoffin 05-18-2007 03:17 PM

Ah.

adidasss 05-18-2007 03:18 PM

I edited it somewhat...*smug*

adidasss 05-18-2007 03:27 PM

I'm pretty sure BSS's debut was self titled...that must be an Ep or summin...

sleepy jack 05-18-2007 03:31 PM

Neh, self titled came out in 05 Feel Good came out in 01.

For people interested in just going through and knocking off a few if you go to Welcome! - Rate Your Music and search for an artist you can see their albums in chronological order and see what their debut is. If everyone could go through and knock out at least five albums that'd be helpful if like 10 of us do it, that'll take care of fifty albums and be a big help.

CAPTAIN CAVEMAN 05-18-2007 03:43 PM

I'm quite sure Alexisonfire's s/t is their debut.

sleepy jack 05-18-2007 06:21 PM

I did A-F, so it would be cool if someone could help.

Sparky 05-18-2007 06:22 PM

ill do g-j

Sparky 05-18-2007 06:28 PM

k, these are the wrong ones.

godspeed debut was actually "All Lights ****ed on the Hairy Amp Drooling"
hank debut was actually "rising outlaw"

Blain 05-18-2007 06:36 PM

Soad's Self Titled is debut. Same With LP's Hybrid Theory, Rise Against's The Unravelling and Ratm S/T

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-18-2007 07:13 PM

I think it's safe to call Mellow Gold Becks debut album.

Golden Feelings was basically a cassette only demo
A Western Harvest Field By Moonlight was a 10 Inch E.P. and only 2000 were ever pressed. That site has Stereopathic Soul Manure before Mellow Gold even though it was actually released a month after.

sleepy jack 05-18-2007 07:23 PM

Alrightty, /changes

Laces Out Dan! 05-18-2007 09:04 PM

Wu-Tang, Public Enemy and Pink Floyd are right

PopIsDead 05-19-2007 12:08 AM

What would you be calling a debut on these? I noticed that the Godspeed album was marked as not debut even though the album they had beforehand was a cassette that they made 33 copies of. If you look up F#A#∞ anywhere it'll be listed as their debut album. I wouldn't think a demo tape should be considered as a debut, but if you're counting those as debuts, then I can go with that I guess. (Sorry my thoughts are kind of scattered)

sleepy jack 05-19-2007 12:24 AM

Well go with F#A#∞.

PopIsDead 05-19-2007 12:46 AM

Psychocandy (Jesus and Mary Chain), Unknown Pleasures (Joy Division), Are You Experienced? (Jimi Hendrix Experience), The Kinks, Young Team (Mogwai), Slanted and Enchanted (Pavement), Presidents of the United States of America, Surfer Rosa (Pixies), Dry (PJ Harvey), Confusion Is Sex (Sonic Youth), Talking Heads: 77, Tenacious D, Closing Time (Tom Waits), The White Stripes, and Fever To Tell (Yeah Yeah Yeahs) are all debut albums (although many of them have EPs and demos recorded before).

Also, God Ween Satan, despite what I previously thought, isn't actually Ween's debut album. It is considered their first "real" album, since they made a bunch of home recorded albums, but is still disputed since many fans consider those home recorded albums to be "real" albums. Make what you will of it.

sleepy jack 05-19-2007 12:53 AM

Added them all, i'll let the ween one be a debut since home recordings are typically hard to track down, not heard by many people and so on. I'm going to assume thats the case here too.

Yeah, I haven't been able to find those home recorded Ween albums anywhere yet.

cardboard adolescent 05-19-2007 05:56 AM

joanna newsom, massive attack, mc5, ornette coleman, x, wipers, wire, tricky, napalm death, and pere ubu are all correct.

Uno 05-19-2007 09:22 AM

Well wonder boy, why don't you name the debut albums of the artists you've disputed? I would've thought an album called Debut would a debut.

Uno 05-19-2007 09:28 AM

Fleetwood Mac's first album, Fleetwood Mac, was a no frills blues album and was released on the Blue Horizon label in February 1968.

Björk moved to London to pursue a solo career; she began working with producer Nellee Hooper, who had produced for Massive Attack, among others. Their partnership produced Björk's first international solo hit, "Human Behaviour". Her solo debut album, Debut, was released in June 1993

Hank 3: His first album on his own, titled Risin' Outlaw, was released in September 1999.

Kyuss' first line-up consisted of John Garcia (vocals), Joshua Homme (guitar), Nick Oliveri (bass guitar) and Brant Bjork (drums). This lineup released their debut album, Wretch in 1991

In 1982, Hart left the band and Glaze took over vocal duties. Rex Brown (originally referred to as Rex Rocker) soon replaced Bradford on bass. Pantera became an underground favorite, though its regional tours in this era never took them past Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana. The band began supporting fellow heavy metal acts such as Stryper, Dokken, and Quiet Riot, who in turn promoted Pantera's debut, Metal Magic.

There you go, I did it for you.
Thanks wiki

Frances 05-19-2007 09:34 AM

Ha! pwnd by a noob!

Inuzuka Skysword 05-19-2007 03:21 PM

Umm how do you have to check Led Zeppelin I? That is their debut.

sleepy jack 05-19-2007 03:41 PM

I don't listen to Zeppelin so I didn't mark them, I will now.

You'd think so but you'd be wrong. Bjork released two albums before that, Gling-Gló (& Tríó Guðmundur Ingólfssonar) and Björk Guðmundsdóttir.

They released two albums in 98. Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac and Mr. Wonderful.

I already addressed this.

They released Sons of Kyuss in 1990.

Wikipedia can be edited by anyone, its not the most reliable source in the world. Its wrong.

cardboard adolescent 05-19-2007 03:44 PM

I think it's kind of retarded to be hostile toward someone who's taking the time to do this for the benefit of the community...

Inuzuka Skysword 05-19-2007 04:15 PM

Mettalica's and Possessed's are right. I know by heart Possessed's is right because that was the album that created Death Metal.

They were also called "Sons Of Kyuss" at the release of Sons Of Kyuss. So technically not "Kyuss".

I guess it's no biggie though, because SOK, the release, is roughly the same album as Wretch anyway, Wretch just has more on it. Not to mention nothing really changed when they changed their name to Kyuss.

But yeah, to be absolutely technical, the debut album for "Kyuss" is indeed Wretch.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-19-2007 06:55 PM

This whole Bjork thing is getting a bit picky.

I mean one was only released on a small label in Iceland when she was 11 & the other was a collaberation.

sleepy jack 05-19-2007 06:58 PM

I didn't know that, i'll leave both as debuts.

Kevorkian Logic 05-19-2007 07:10 PM

Nine Inch Nails=good
Oasis=good
Alters of Madness=good
Mission of Burma=good
Millencolin=BAD
Nas=good
Okkervil River=BAD
Os Mutantes=good
The Olivia Tremor Control=good

That should be the rest, except for Jimmy Eat World, because I really do not think that band deserves to be in this poll at all, and if the person nominated them really wants them that badly, they can research it themselves.

sleepy jack 05-19-2007 07:19 PM

I checked Jimmy Eat World they're a debut, i'm going to organize the polls tomorrow I don't feel very well right now and don't feel like doing it. I might later, but probably tomorrow.

Frances 05-19-2007 08:37 PM

I do believe Fleetwood Mac - S/T is a debut, go to the bands website.

sleepy jack 05-19-2007 08:50 PM

According to their website Peter Green's Fleetwood Mac came out 02/01/1968 and Self-titled came out 07/01/1975.

LOLZ PWNT BY A SNR MMBER!1

Frances 05-19-2007 08:54 PM

I'm pretty sure nearly all of these artists recorded something before the recorded their official Debuts.

That's the album i was talking about! Look back at the nomination buddy, it says Peter Green.

Did you really think I'd nominate an album 7 years after the bands formation? No. THE ORIGINAL LINE UP-DEBUT ALBUM

sleepy jack 05-19-2007 08:58 PM

It says S/T.

Frances 05-19-2007 09:08 PM

Well I thought I wrote it in there :banghead:

But come on. isn't it obvious! Lighten up little man.

If I said Mick Jaggers Rolling Stones, it just means Rolling Stones to most.
