Fun House-The Stooges
It's like listening to a load of autistic factory workers cover the James Brown songbook. When you consider how good the first Stooges album is, this unlistenable, formless dirge has to be seen as a disaster, with LA Blues being a contender for worst thing ever put to record. That said, the rest isn't much better, with the lyrics consisting of the same phrases spastically roared over and over, with none of the tracks at any point having any appeal whatsoever. Why anyone would bother listening to this is beyond me, never mind acclaiming this nonsense as a classic.

I agree, not to such a negative extent, but I agree.

Mr. Bungle - Disco Volante

to most this is THE Bungle album, to me it's something to be checked off a list. after ditching the costumes and pseudonyms of the first album and *gasp* letting the mainstream know that this actually WAS the new singer from Faith No More's other band what did they do? they wrote a bunch of songs about being pissed off at their moms and highschool and wanked on their instruments, a lot. was this supposed to appeal to the despondent grunge listeners? the leftover late 80s early 90s metal fans that flocked to FNMs 'The Real Thing' and 'Angeldust'? the weirdos who loved the spastic funk metal of their self-titled debut?

weird for the sake of being weird turned into long winded masturbatory rhythm solos like 'Carry Stress in the Jaw', 'The Bends' and 'Merry Go Bye-Bye' which just like the description for Television's Marquee Moon earlier mentioned became something to be heard rather than something listened to.

I do agree it's almost weird for the sake of being weird and pretty masturbatory, but I still like it. It definitely came as a shock when it came out, and took some time to get used to but it's a fun listen once in a while...and quite funny. But no doubt I prefer the debut, and I don't consider Disco Volante THE Bungle album. Only avant-garde music snobs would say something like that. And I guess they're entitled to their opinions too.

Desert Search for Techno Allah is awesome. As is Ma Meeshka Mow Skwoz.

I like it. Take back what you said!

Totally disagree about Marquee Moon but that's the besides the point because you are dead on about Disco Volante. It has its moments, like "Desert Search for Techno Allah", but nevertheless it is a distant third when compared to the other two commercially released Bungle albums.

Those are the only two songs on the album that really do it for me, although if I'm in the right mood I sometimes also enjoy "The Bends".

Agreed. I'll take the self-titled myself...

Flatly produced soulless funk without a hint of originality that feels like it's only there to appear as 'right on' as possible rather than any great musical love for it while you're repeatedly smacked over the head with a bunch of leftie propaganda.

Only a bunch of students could have produced this stuff. The more I hear it the more I hate it. How this ever became considered one of the best post punk albums is beyond me.

Listen to 'The Graveyard & The Ballroom' or 'Y' instead to hear how this stuff should be done.

^ I'm not that well versed in post-punk but I was disappointed in that too, I expected to like it more.
