Clapton just shows up everywhere that Rocks.

Blind Faith, Cream, Derek and The Domino's, The Yardbirds and then his solo stuff all the way up to "Riding with the King".

Here's how I compare: Floyd's best five albums vs. Clapton's best five

If nothing else it's a whole bunch of great music to think about and listen to.

Yeah Clapton was in The Yardbirds, but they didn't become notable until he was replaced by Jeff Beck.

Clapton has a greater amount of classic albums under his belt if you include all the bands hes been in. But Pink Floyd > his solo material. The solo stuff is all that Clapton as a solo musician should be judged by.

If we were to rank individual solo musicians just by the bands they have been in or associated with. Then I see no point in not having Paul Mccartney and John Lennon both in the top 10 as solo artists.

But thats not how it should be done.

Lennon and McCartney were great in the Beatles. Both of their solo careers have produced more junk then good.

Clapton's solo career does not warrant a top 10 ranking, but you have to take into consideration how many great bands he was a part of. Don;t punish him for not staying with the same musicians ll his career.

Without a doubt on this list, Eric Clapton is judged by his full body of work, same as other artists both individual and groups.

And just to split hairs Chas Chandler didn't discover Jimi Hendrix...he discovered a man by the name of Jimmy James, which was the name he was using while he played for a band called The Blue Flames.

Where is Frank Zappa? and i'm not just adding him because of his avant-garde style. He is an absolute virtuoso who could write and play any genre and play it well. Even his classical symphonies are awesome.

Maybe the reason is that because you can't pigeon hole him. He did'nt want to be pigeon holed. He was once asked why he played so many styles of music, to which he replied "because I can"-genius. Add him now!
