Its not that simple. Many things contribute to racism.

Misunderstanding and ignorance more than anything. But for some it has to do with their background. If you were a white kid who got picked on a all black school, that could be one thing. Another is that you only know a few people of a certain race, and they display a certain behavior that makes you think all people of this race is that way. And some people have a thing where if they hate a person, they will attribute that to anything about that person, including his/her religion or his/her race.
