Default Need help on finding some "beautiful" music..

Hej!

Long time Music lover first time Music banter or.. something...

Anyway... I need some help from some of you music experts.
I'm looking for certains songs with certains lyrics. I don't know these songs yet though (which is the reason for me asking here).

I'm a big fan of all types of music and also a big fan of music who's lyrics actually resumble or relate to me in some way.

What I'm basically looking for is music (doesn't matter what genre, though i do prefer softer music over harder/louder music) which is about somebody travelling far away, leaving family, leaving their life behind while exploring another place, or creating a new life for themself somewhere else.

See the thing is, I'm born in Denmark, but raised in Canada. Last year i moved back to Denmark alone without the rest of my family. I miss them like crazy but i felt i needed to do this in my life. Mainly because of education, but also because I wanted to discover something new/different.

Are there any songs that kinda relate to something like this? Or perhaps relate to something else like, leaving somebody behind, missing them, etc?

Thanks for any advice/suggestions u can give!
Cheers!

It's quite difficult to put oneself into someone elses shoes emotionally, so what I would recommend may be completely inadequate.

EMF-TRAVELLING, NOT RUNNING
JOHN MARTYN-THE MAN IN THE STATION
THE FLAMING LIPS-IN THE MORNING OF THE MAGICIANS
EVERYTHING BUT THE GIRL-MISSING
CLANNAD-I WILL FIND YOU

Music that does'nt fit your criteria lyrically, but may stir the soul musically:

TANGERINE DREAM
CLANNAD
SIGUR ROS
JOSE PADILLA
GODSPEED YOU!BLACK EMPEROR

"Country Mile" - Camera Obscura is a majestically mournful gem. I listened to the album it's on every day while I was away from home doing relief-work on the gulf coast. Tracyanne Campbell's smoky alto will wrap you up and make you swoon as she struggles sweetly with the high notes. This song is like the soundtrack to being away from home, and having the greatest shout-it-from-the-mountain-tops revelation of your life.

Walk away - ben harper
canned heat - on the road again
michael nyman - the promise, (just always pictured this song being used in that context)

David Bowie's "Everyone says hi" convinced me to move home once. Probably not what youre after though.

or maybe "Move On" (also Bowie)

I think We're Here by Guillemots might just fit your criteria and it's such a beautiful song.

Try the band Chevelle. Especially there new cd Vena Sera, if you want emotion and telling a story they will be great for you. And they will certainly be loud/hard enough for you.

edit: i misread you like softer music more

Instead (you might still like Chevelle) try John Frusciante's solo music. Theres a good 10 albums or so.

That is Shadows Collide With People, and has some of the best soothing singing guitar playing youl ever hear. Everyone i know whos listened to it has LOVED it.

And for some different music, maybe some Hootie and The Blowfish, Peter Tosh, or Bob Marley? That always gets me in a good mood.
