Bit unfair seeing as Mick Jones wrote practically all the music in The Clash.

The new Clash documentary is just basically a Joe Strummer circle-jerk.

Urban Hat€monger ? 11-27-2007 05:45 AM

Thats probably because it's a Joe Strummer documentary.

Well if anyone cared about the other guys, then they would have made a documentary about the whole band.

Seeing as Mick Jones wrote all their music (as pointed out) and their music is still treasured today it's safe to say people care about those "other guys."

All bands are just either the singer/guitarist/lyricist/composer/producer/cute one and a bunch of other guys... no matter how 'loved' their work is

Joe Strummer gets all of the attention, so Joe Strummer basically IS The Clash. All of the other members could be replaced, and a majority of the listeners would not care.

Every bandmate in any band has a vital role, however, only the frontman gets all of the credit. It's not fair, but who really cares? It should be about the music.

They did , It's called Westway To The World.
It came out about 5 or 6 years ago

When I talk about things, I usually refer to the popular view. Avid fans of the band will know everything their is to know about them, but the 'casual' listener won't care enough to.

That film was liked by fans (probably because it was mostly a live show compilation), but the Joe-Strummer-is-god one is getting a lot more attention. I actually assume all of this Clash media hype is due to all of the hot-topic kiddies getting a hold of their albums (same with the Ramones).

Mick Jones had more 'mainstream' success with Big Audio Dynamite than the Clash and Strummer ever had.

No it wasn't , it was a series of interviews with all 4 band members made by film-maker Don Letts and screened in a prime time TV slot on a saturday night

Or it could be because they made good records that stand the test of time & still mean something. I've never been anywhere near a hot topic and I like them and they spilt up long before I was aware of them.

This is going nowhere.

We are arguing (I thought this was just a friendly discussion, but knowing you....) two completely different points.

If you ever ban people you should ban that urban whatever his name is. He basically says nothing of real value, and I've been able to ignore almost every single comment he's made because he's never said anything that had to do with any topic.

Watch as he gonna start posting about this and I'm simply gonna ignore him
Good idea.
