Albums That People Gasp With Astonishment When You Tell Them You've Never Heard Them
Marvin Gaye - Whats Going On
Van Morrison - Astral Weeks Everytime I tell people i've never heard these albums they always looked shocked. Post yours. |
The Rolling Stones "Exile On Main Street"
Stevie Wonder "Innervisions" The Rolling Stones "Let It Bleed" Marvin Gaye "Whats Goin' On" The Jimi Hendrix Experience "Are You Experienced?" James Brown "Live at the Apollo" The Rolling Stones "Beggars Banquet" i'm stopping now I don't feel like thinking anymore, there's tons of artists I havn't even heard anything by like the Band for instance and i've only heard I think one The Who album. I've always had a dislike for classic rock and albums that are held as classics. There's also alot of indie classic's ive never listened to like Live at the Witch Trials, Murmur and Source Tags & Codes that some of my friends are surprised i've never heard. |

I haven't heard any albums by Pulp, Blur, Suede, etc.
people seem surprised. I'm pretty sure I would like these bands if I checked them out, so i should do so. |
A lot of the albums mentioned should be heard even if your not a fan of that particular artist.
Albums like 'What's Going On?', 'Live at the Apollo', 'Exile On Main Street' and 'Are You Experienced?' should get a listen at least for their historical context. A while back I went on a classic album spending spree, buying up CD's that were considered classics irrespective of whether or not I was into them. I was in for a few pleasant surprises and it opened up loads of musical territory I wouldn't have otherwise explored. To make you gasp with astonishment...never heard; Prince - '1999' Radiohead - 'OK Computer' (incredible, but true) Captain Beefheart and His Magic Band - 'Trout Mask Replica' Bruce Springsteen - 'Born in the U.S.A.' (not heard an album of his front to back yet) And that's just the tip of the iceberg. There's shedloads of albums I'd love to hear and most of them considered classics. |

Never heard an album from Radiohead, The Smiths, The Beatles, Sonic Youth, as well as 99.99% of other highly regarded bands/artists who were releasing stuff back in the 70's, 80's, and 90's. Some I've obtained albums from, but just cbf/never get around to listening to them....
