Battles were so overhyped; Mirrored was on many end-of-year lists.

Battles deserve their acclaim IMO, one of the few new bands that don't bore me to tears.

King Crimson
Roxy Music
Hawkwind

Very true... it must just be the people I run into. Lots of Floyd fans but have no clue about Syd... or they've heard of him but have no idea the true impact he had on Floyd's sound.

Which is a shame since their newest album is a steaming pile of crap.

It's bands that need to be BETTER known, not bands that just need to be well known. It dosen't have to be super obscure bands.

King Crimson are nowhere near as respected as they should be for what I consider to be one of the most influencial rock bands of all time. This is a band that should have been inducted in the rock n roll hall of fame well over a decade ago and is somehow snubbed time and time again for the likes of Tom Petty and Bob Seger.

Roxy Music has their hipster following, but I don't think that's enough, they have so many great songs that SHOULD be classic rock radio standards and IMO they should be a household name, especially for the underappreciated influence they had on punk.

And Hawkwind, c'mon, a band that combines songs about outer space with ridiculous outfits and naked dancing chicks? F*ck KISS, that's what I call a spectacular stage show.
