Rolling Stone Magazine's Top 500 Albums (hip-hop, rock, itunes, beatles)

Oh, the magazine itself has become **** in the past 4 years. All the writers just drop names and terms to describe modern music, and if they don't understand something, they just bash it and make up terms for it that are completely irrelevant.

Though, didn't that list come out quite a bit ago?

94. Bitches Brew, Miles Davis

And Joshua Tree was like in the 20's? This list makes me rofl.

Rolling Stone is Classics Heavy and its generally going to be that way until Jann Wener dies.

Its the standard over here but its certainly not the best. And I agree with Urban. Those top 6 are ****ing trash and it always makes me hate the Beatles. 3 of the top 6 albums of all time were made by the beatles?

Jesus you'd think the editors of rolling stone were three 16 year olds from MB.

Um...anything recent at all Rolling Stone? No?

What's Going On is a fantastic record but there are many albums on that list that should be higher than it.

Also, many albums left out. I may have missed it but...nothing by Lee Perry at all?

I have 69 out of a possible 500. That suits me fine and it's a particulary yawn filled list with all the usual suspects in there. has anyone got the balls to name albums apart from the usual I.E Pink Floyd-thhe wall yawn yawn. Meddle pwns The wall.

I have (or have had in the past) close to 100 of those on that list. Even for some of the stuff I don't even like, I can see why it would warrant being on the list (I can appreciate someone without necessarily liking it), but some of the newer stuff on the list is still heavily debateable...

Here's some of my disagreement with the list though...

I love U2, but the last GREAT album they ever did was Achtung Baby and All That You Can't Leave Behind is weak overall (a few good songs, but as an album overall, not so good IMO).

Nirvana perhaps belongs on the list, but Nevermind at #17?

Eminem...?

And Moby's Play is quite a good album, but I dunno if it belongs on even a top 500. Ditto for the Eurythmics and Coldplay (and I LOVE them both, don't get me wrong, they just aren't GREAT).

And, unless I missed it, where Tori Amos? If anything, Little Earthquakes was a remarkable album and was very influential (and I'm not a big Tori Amos fan).

Also missing: Tears for Fears' Songs from the Big Chair.

I'm far too biased on this and truly its too soon to tell in the bigger picture, but Sigur Ros' Takk... might warrant being on this list...

Yeah, definitely, The Wall is one of the most overrated albums (some good indivisual songs here and there, but overall as an album its not really so great). I'd have to second you on Meddle, a much better album...

I'm surprised they didn't throw Fall Out Boy in there to be like, "Look, we're still hip, we listen to emos too." Because that's basically what they said when they reviewed their latest a while back and have it like a 4/5 rofl.
