Viktor Vaughn - Vaudeville Villain

Aside from Madvillainy, this is my favorite MF Doom record. The productions very futuristic, Proto-punk in a sense, and Doom's lyrics have never been this witty. We need Doom like this again in modern ages.

This album seems to be incredibly underrated. It's really great. Jangle pop with the experimentation of Post-Punk. Some tracks are perfect pop songs, some are insane jazzy tracks with spoken word.

Heh, cool, Blarobbarg told me of those guys yesterday. Checked out that album earlier today, and I'm digging it.

Wow, that's a pretty odd coincidence considering they're such an obscure band. It just kind of randomly appeared in my library, so possibly it was a post by him that led to my enlightenment.

It is my favorite, ahead of Madvillainy.

Actually, I listened to them because you posted about them! Never got around to saying anything about it. They're really great! Your "jangle pop with post punk experimentation" description is totally spot on.

Ex Hex - Rips
Really starting to love this album. Helium are one of my favourite nineties bands, and while this is a completely different side of Mary Timony's work, it's still entirely enjoyable. Fun punk with an abundance of hooks, like Sleater-Kinney crossed with the Exploding Hearts. She's some guitarist as well. And that album cover!

Hail Mary Mallon - Bestiary (2014)

You know Aes and Rob Sonic, to a lesser extent, are going to come with the lyrics, so the beats are basically the make or break on this album. And they are fucking great. One of the best Hip Hop albums of the year. And based on my first listen, it's better than RTJ 2.
