I've been rediscovering Windir since my flatmates bought me Sennheisers a couple of weeks ago - headphones make the whole Windir experience better (if that's even possible). I feel bad that a lot of music fans will never discover the beauty of Arntor because they avoid black metal altogether. I think it's maybe time that we did some serious promotion on MB.

So here's a Windir song for everybody, even if youtube quality really doesn't do their sound justice (be sure to listen to the HQ version). I'm happy to up Arntor or any of their other albums for anyone who wants them.

Windir - Svartesmeden Og Lundamyrstrollet (click play then HQ)
What a fantastic riff! And doesn't that section from 5:40 to 7:40 just tug at your heartstrings?

I put the album on the 1001 list, and included an up of Kong Hydnes Haug in my second compilation from it. But dudes, seriously, get this, seriously.

I am a sucker for a really hearfelt female voice that doesn't resort to vocal histrionics or schmaltzy lyrics to convey how they feel.

How do Slayer keep making damn solid albums without compromising their principles or following trends? The track Skeleton Christ is worth 20 generic 'core' bands doing the rounds these days.

Every few months this breakbeat classic get's an airing. Pity there's not more fans of fun filled music on here

This perennial classic got a run out today.

Its all about the REM Live disc tonight... damn solid live album too.... a little heavy on tracks from Around The Sun in places, but they are remarkably better versions than on the album... enjoying this disc immensely, as a long time fan of the band...

Been on a bit of a metal kick lately. These two albums, both recent acquisitions and the first albums I've owned of either band, have been pretty maxed out in my rotation:

I got it in the mail Friday but still haven't played it. I think today's the day.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

I really need to look into this album. I loved In Absence of Truth, I hope this one delivers.
