I discovered this album about 8 or so years ago, and whenever I pick it back up to give it a listen it turns into a marathon run. "How I Do" is the only album Res ever released, which is unfortunate because she has a great voice and her music has a little something that sets it apart from most R&B/soul albums. Her voice can be sultry, sweet, or a little rough, but it always pulls me into the songs and keeps me hooked. Pretty much one of my top albums.

This album is fantastic and proof that R&B is still alive and able to crank out quality sounds too. 700 Mile Situation is such a great song.

^ Elvis Costello teams up with Allen Toussaint to do a jazz/soul/New Orleans r'n'b album. With the exception of a lame space-filler or two, stellar stuff.

~^ Lifeforms - a very left-of-centre, ambient and fittingly long and complex effort from the same bunch that brought Papua New Guinea to dance floors all over the world. An absolute gem this.

^ And this blew me away with the first listen. Fantastic beats, fantastic use of vocals - classic.

heavy as f**k, but still well made and interesting. Nergal knows how to brutalize a song but still have a groove.

Nihilist Spasm Band - No Record

just as wacky and off-the-wall, produced about the same time as Red Krayola's stuff but not burdened by the limitations of psychedelia as other avant-garde bands of the time.

Sounds great - I wouldn't mind a link if you have one. :D

I've been revisiting favourites lately.

This album is perfect for when I want to listen to something dark and gritty.
