^ Very good little folk rock album this. Title track aside, there are some great originals and covers to be found here, including a lovely version of good old We'll Meet Again. Good stuff, as I say. Doesn't get anywhere near as much airplay with me as the old favourite... http://1.bp.blogspot.com/__OSIB1hWqe...sweetheart.jpg ^ ...which as if by sheer coincidence I got through for the gazillionth time just now. An album that just never gets old. |
What's your opinion on Younger Than Yesterday?

http://cjonesplay.files.wordpress.co...__wine_480.jpg i've been entering an acoustic guitar folkish phase after rediscovering elliot smith's either/or. i was thinking of what to start with and the first thing that popped in my head was iron and wine. i always meant to get into them, but they are one of those sad occurrences where it just didn't happen. after hearing them sporadically and even seeing them live, i finally decided to actually get down to a full album. very pleased. cinder and smoke is just amazing. |
5 albums I've been diggin ...
Captain Beefheart & his Magic Band - Ice Cream For Crow The Monks - Black Monk Time Beat Happening - Black Candy Neil Young - After The Gold Rush Mount Eerie - Lost Wisdom never properly got into The Monks before, definitely am now ... great album that, can't believe it was made so long ago! |
Right now I am very much digging "Grand Slam" by Spiderbait.... very much an old favorite that I have not dusted off for some years now, and all the more enjoyable for such sustained absence... must listen to this more often...

Electric Wire Hustle - S/T My flatmate considers this his fav album of 09. After giving it a few listens I'd say that's a bit of a stretch, but it is a nice mix of hip hop, soul and various other influences. Here's a song from it... gotta love the shout out to all the musicians who were instrumental in the creation of the album. And I've been enjoying the classic funk of the Meters too. |
The Fauves - Lazy Highways
The closest thing the Fauves made to music that exposes their vulnerabilities.... and some pretty darn good music too... |
Rise Against fest tonight. I enjoyed Revolutions Per Minute, Siren Song of the Counter Culture, and to a slightly lesser degree, The Sufferer & The Witness. Had I known I was going to play more than one album, I would have started at the beginning with The Unraveling which is the most awesome.
