Summer = reggae in my world:

The Ethiopians - The Original Reggae Hit Sound
Classic first-wave Jamaican ska/rocksteady. Beautiful

Justin Hinds - LIVE at Grassroots Backed by John Brown's Body

Take one 60's Jamaican ska legend, back him with one of contemorary reggae's (and Ithaca NY's) finest roots reggae band, and throw them in what was, at the time, basically my backyard in upstate NY for one night only, and you have one hell of a live performance, and one hell of an album. This performance was in the summer of 02', 3 years prior to Hinds passing away in 05'

Black Uhuru - Guess Who's Coming to Dinner
A must have classic reggae album. What else can be said?

Junior Murvin - Police and Thieves

An album originally recorded under the auspices of Lee "scratch" Perry in his Black Ark Studio. Both the producers trademark sound and Murvin's unique falsetto shine through. Yet another classic.

Really enjoying this one over the past few months. I remember on first listen, I found a few nice melodies but thought it was kind of mess. Now it's just beautiful. Nu-jazz, jazz/rock fusion, post-rock (Tortoise-style), progressive rock...I don't know what to call it at all, but it's good.
sounds interesting. i must get this!

I was going to do a review of them, or a couple other old school ones, or The Congos for Reggae Week but I didn't make it in time. Great band!

Right now I'm really digging Bob Dylan.

That Jaga Jazzist album is pretty good.

Been loving me some Iron Maiden lately. Particularly this album

Yeah that's the only other one I have, very good too. Just got it this year also.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

A great lo-fi garage rock album, really fast pace. Even though the quality is low fi you can still feel the melody.

At first, I wasn't big on the electronic stuff, but it grows on you. I love "Blast From The East" and "Brush With The Blues."

Band of Horses - Infinite Arms

Man, this album...what a grower. When I first got it, it started off nice but got pretty lame and boring as it went on. Just didn't seem there was much to it. The singing style on a song or two reminded me of Death Cab for Cutie, and one song in some way even reminds me of Extreme's " More Than Words" (yeah I know, ewww). And I'm not into alt-country or americana, though I do enjoy more and more a bit of country-tinged indie rock. And of course I do already really like their first two albums. So I guess it's not unnatural that I would really like this album, except for the mediocre/negative first impression. But now I can't seem to get it out of my head. I already played it once this week, and have a ton of other stuff I've been meaning to play, but had a song stuck in my head as I was between albums earlier so I had to put it on. Just as good every time. There's just always something about their lyrics that I can connect with. I know some people find this boring but as I said, it's a grower. More so than their past albums. And I think it's really awesome. If you don't let it grow on you, don't expect to like it.

Moose-Honey Bee
Moose are seriously one of the most underrated bands in Shoegaze if not just in general. Majestic guitar(well it is Shoegaze) and a certain ambientness to it which just leaves me in awe. K.J. has a beautiful voice which fits the music perfectly and the lyrics aren't have bad either. Fantastic album.
