Bad Religion - The Dissent Of Man

i honestly had no intention at all to hear this album until a good friend whose judgement on music i trust...told me to give it a try....Bad religion being one of my favorite punk rock bands has really disappointed me basically since "The Gray Race"...and to be honest i rarely play anything after "Against The Grain"

i was basically told that this is not "Suffer" part 2 but well worth a few listens...and it is.....this album does not sound like a band that is over 30 years old....great melodic political punk....with their typical sense of sarcasm.....a must for long time fans and beginners...

Hey, since you're a Bad Religion fan maybe you can help me out. They're a band I've wanted to check out for a long time but I've never known where to start. Where should I, a person whose punk compass generally points back to the early 80s/late 70s, begin?

No Control is their best, by a large portion.
I know this wasn't my question but I thought i'd answer anyway.

i would suggest No Control and Suffer...this is when they formed the "bad religion" sound :).....but if you want more straight forward early 80's LA punk rock check out 80-85 which is a couple of eps and their first album 'How Could hell Be Any Worse'...in my opinion the best song they ever recorded is on 80-85 "Along The Way".....if you like these check out Against The Grain for super melodic hyper-intelligent punk rock.....

Thank you both! I'll definitely check out your suggestions.

Pylon - Chomp (1983)

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/...rL._SS500_.jpg

Me gusta este disco! Been enjoying the prior album Gyrate for the past few months, and I'm finally playing this one for the first time. Less abrassive but certainly as good. Slightly more mature perhaps, a bit less screaming. It is niiiice.

As I've mentioned before, I love Chomp. It's the only album I have by them though. I definitely have to give Gyrate a chance too.

And speaking of Chomp, have you ever heard REM's cover of "Crazy"?

Hmm, where would I find REM's cover? Apparently I've already played the song on Chomp but it didn't sound familiar in any way. Not like when I first heard Wire's "Strange" and felt like I'd heard it somewhere before. :p:

I'll have to go back to "Crazy" when the album's over.

It's on the outtakes and b-sides album from 1987 Dead Letter Office. That's actually one of my favorite REM albums believe it or not, very much worth a listen if you've never heard it.

Relistening to the song now, can't say it sounds too familiar but I can definitely see it working well for REM. I may have a digital copy of Dead Letter Office, I'll check when I get home. I think I remember ripping it from our office CD collection a few years ago.

Chocolat Billy - Mon père est ma mère

This was a completely random find and it is ****ing amazing. I have no idea how to describe, it's got some pop sounds, kinda like math rock, and a good amount of noise.

Mordant Music - Picking O'er Your Bones

This is a comp from the label of the band I guess. I've never heard of them before this, but apparently they combine dubstep and hauntology. I think I'm in love.
