Well, I didn't mean good mood as in happy mood, but yeah...

The debut album from the master of Samba, Cartola is easily one of my favorite recordings of all time.

My favorite song from the album, Tive Sim, performed live:

Sankt Otten - Morgen Wieder Lustig

these guys are hard to pin down. sometimes their sound is kosmische, sometimes it's post rock, sometimes it's trip hop... but it's always good :)

Every once in a while I go through a phase where all I really want to listen to is the Beatles. Sometimes it's Sgt. Pepper's nonstop, sometimes Abby Road. The past week it's been:

and

I can't explain the phenomenon, but it hits me hard sometimes. I give it another 2 or 3 days before I can move on to some other music, but this is what I'm dealing with right now.

Big Blood-Dark Country Magic
Utterly beautiful and compelling album, but I expect nothing less from the most interesting band of the 00s.

Husker Du-Zen Arcade
One of my favourite albums of all time and the first solid Hardcore Punk album that I got into back in the day. Chartered Trips is an amazing song and I was working on a cover today.

Future Islands-In Evening Air
Pioneers of the emerging "Post-Wave" scene, Future Islands produce some of the catchiest songs of the year.

I've been listening to him since early October. This is former lead vocalist from "From First to Last" that crossed over to producing after this band went to ****. He was making music under his birth name Sonny Moore as a electronic-pop/dubstep/electro artist with vocals in it. Sonny had surgery on his vocal chords that has effected his singing ability, now he just uses samples of his vocals rather than putting full lyrics to his music. Sonny uses the name Skrillex now. He has released two Eps (ones listed above) and they have been flat out killer in my opinion. He is extremely talented in arranging music and live he is unbelievable with mixing (idk what he uses exactly but its like 2 dj decks running a playlist through abelton hooked to a synth/sampling pad thing I talked to him a little about it after the show I went to when he opened for deadmau5). Give him a try if you haven't heard any of his electronic music yet. Its KILLAAAAA BEATZZZ MANNNN

Serge Gainsbourg - Cannabis (1970)

http://webpages.charter.net/hoesterey1/cannabis.bmp

Serge Gainsbourg is one of those musicians where I discover one album that I really, really like and completely forget about the rest of his discography. Well today I finally got around to downloading another of his albums after like, a year of not listening to anything new by him, and it's absolutely incredible.

If you like Histoire de Melody Nelson, then I think there's a really good chance you would like this album. Groovy, laid-back bass lines and a general atmosphere that exudes sleaze all point back to Histoire for me. Most of the soundtrack is instrumental though, so anyone familiar with Gainsbourg's voice will probably be slightly disappointed. Overall, an amazing album.

One of my favorite tracks:

Popol Vuh - Hosianna Mantra (1972)

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...nna_mantra.jpg

After about two years of being an avid Werner Herzog fan, I've finally gotten around to downloading Popol Vuh, and now I'm wondering why it took me so long. An ambient/krautrock band from the 70s, Popol Vuh's music is ethereal and soft yet lush and elaborate, combining a lot of synth work with traditional instrumentation form pre-Columbian (hence the Maya band name) and Asian cultures. Very spiritual stuff.

My favorite song (featuring some Korean singer who I'm not familiar with):
