Definitely one of the worst album covers of all time. Sometimes I wonder how bands go with some of these horrible decisions...

One lapse in judgement isn't so bad, what amazes me is good artists whose entire discography consists of horrible album covers. *cough*leonardcohen*cough*

I don't think it's a bad cover at all. It shows the two hemispheres of the brain, the "animalistic" uncivilized naked man and the "proper civilized" well-dressed man. And about the ass-cheeks, it would have been a lot less appealing and proper and sellable to have the naked guy facing the camera than having his ass to the camera.

they could at least have him as a hairy caveman or something

Haha I agree. Still, there is a clear point they were trying to convey. Can someone please explain what Yes were going for?

And yes, I love that album as well. I hate to say it, but going along with what Janz said...Rush is another band with consistently questionable album covers. Moving Pictures is one of the few that are passable.

it's mostly something to do with the basic animal man trapped in a concrete jungle

Hipgnosis had high-falutin' rants against civilisation that we're better off being the wild primates that we are, that translates into their designs

Don't you see though that's what makes it so bad, there's no subtlety or depth at all in that pic, it's the visual equivalent of a 7th grade love poem.
