The Fendermen - Mule Skinner Blues (1960)

Two guitarists, one playing a Fender Stratocaster and one playing a Fender Telecaster, both plugged into the same amplifier. This would probably be called "Psychobilly" rock today. Worth a listen just for the title track and their version of "Jack of Diamonds."

Listening to this reminded me that I downloaded their discography more than a year ago, yet I never gave any of their albums aside from Sunset Mission a listen until now. I need to fix this problem immediately.

This is now my current AOTY (unless Sun Kil Moon's Benji turns out to be a grower for me). :>

One of my favorite albums of 2014 so far. Great heavy melodic rock/metal in the vein of Soundgarden and perhaps Mastodon.

Solo Piano - Philip Glass
This album is a minimalistic and timeless masterpiece. It got released in 1989.
Basically, most of the tracks are used in well-known movies as The Hours or series, e.g. Battlestar Galactica.
I enjoy the 5 "Metamorphosis"-compositions. Those refer to the short story "The Metamorphosis" by Franz Kafka.
Actually I've read that shot story and in my opinion, the plot is surreal yet very inspiring.

The Hotelier - Home, Like Noplace Is There
This album is getting a lot of good reviews and rightfully so. I can't remember the last time I enjoyed an emo album like this. It's literally not left my headphones since I got it. Fantastic lyrics, emotional vocals obviously, and songs so catchy you forget they're emo. Music journalist Ian Cohen said of this album 'If you're concerned about The Hotelier because of the e-word, it's like avoiding "Sunbather" because of Avenged Sevenfold' which I feel is very apt, this record is more than just an emo album.

^That's definitely high on my lists of albums to get...actually I might just get it right now.

Talking Heads - Remain In Light

Pure awesomeness. Go listen to this album if you haven't already and thank me for changing your pathetic life.

Temples Sun Structures

UK psychedelic indie rock band somewhat similar to Tame Impala (reminds me also at times of Donovan). Trippy & infectious, most of the songs are very hook-laden.

Imaginaerum

I shrugged this off upon release because of Annette Olsen, but I am really enjoying this. Really sad that I didn't give this a chance when it was released.
