“Dylan circa ’65 & the Velvet Underground” sounds great to me. CD ordered! Have always heard a bit of Modern Lovers in their sound as well.

Molly Drake - Molly Drake

Interesting to see the mother of Nick Drake has some music out there. I guess making great music runs (*cough*, ran) in the family because I love this too.

JJ DOOM - Keys to the Kuffs

Such a great album on all levels. The beats and rhymes from both DOOM and Jarel are prime time. I know this sounds crazy, but I think that behind Madvillainy this is DOOM's best release.

Some others:

Kevin Morby - both his studio albums (Still Life and Harlem River). Worst name ever, but he reminds me of Dylan a bit. Not so much musically but his voice.

Spoon - Kill the Moonlight. Just really good pop songs that are insanely catchy.

The Bilinda Butchers - HEAVEN. Surprisingly they don't completely rip off MBV. They don't sound that much like them, even. This album is very varied and and has an interesting concept.

Cool man! Gonna check out that Bilinda Butchers album off of that description. Shoegaze has too many bands hopping on to the MBV bandwagon, it's nice to see some bands taking a different approach. Have you heard Swirlies? I think that's my favourite shoegaze group.
