now's as good a time as any to check out Red Kross i suppose.

'Failure', the first Posies album, is astounding too, those guys knew what they were doing. The production is not as polished as Beater and lacks the distorted geetars (wouldn't be surprised if the record co. had sommat to do with that) - stripped of that they sound much more 60s.

Another Posies fan here - first encountered them in the Hype! documentary doing "Throwaway" live and really loved that song. I agree with you about Failure and enjoy its brighter, cleaner sound and non-stop hooks. Dear 23 is a great record as well.

O.C. - Word...Life

Seminal album from the Brooklyn rapper circa early nineties. If you want to talk about hip-hop renaissance, forget The Chronic and Illmatic, the dense collection of rhymes and jazzy beats flow impeccably on this album.

Tom Waits - Swordfishtrombones

Time and time again I come back to this album expecting my opinion to change. Nope, still fucking brilliant.

Erde by Forseti.

German neofolk stuff. Top notch if thats what you're looking for. I was going to 'save' it for a review, but I found it difficult to write about. Either way, lyrics in German, so I can't make an ounce of it, but that doesn't really make me not enjoy it.

Lou Reed- The Bells. Spun this randomly (like really, I closed my eyes and picked it out of thousands of albums) but I'm diggin' it atm. Can't put my finger on what I like about it exactly, it's got horns of some kind it sounds like, and is a bit darker *feeling* then most other Lou Reed albums I've heard. Pelican - What We All Come To Need

Holy crap this is an amazing post-metal album. It just does everything right. There's a good amount of rif***e going on, enough melodic parts, and the songs are within a reasonable length when it comes to post-metal and it keeps your attention. Upon doing some research on the band I found out they're from Chicago, same place as another post-metal band Russian Circles who also released a new album (on the same day I believe). Seems like Chicago has got a pretty decent scene for everything...
