I know that sometimes he sincerely must not believe what his party spits out, and sometimes it's hard to watch your childhood / teenage hero toe the party line. Perhaps he has a bigger picture / scheme / idea in mind? Perhaps he now wants to try to change everything from the inside - i'll admit that with my disappointment comes some sort of faith in him still... he seems to sincere a man to just sell out for power.
Yeah, I kinda hope that's the case as well. It could very well be a question of him simply having his hands tied on the issues, and that the only one with any real power as such is the PM himself. Could also be that all kinds of crazy stuff gets done in his name only, seeing as Garrett's in the lofty position he's in and all that. Of course, I don't live in Australia, so I wouldn't know as well as a lot of other people do, but I highly doubt he'd have spent so long singing about the kinds of things he did if he really didn't care about them. It is pretty painful though hearing what he's had to say about his approving the opening of uranium mines and pulp mills though, I'll admit that much. I guess there's only one man who knows exactly what's going on when all's said and done.

Bob Dylan - Slow Train Coming

The first of what would be many of Dylan's Christian-themed albums. It's all very nice his standing up for his beliefs in musical form and all that, but bloody hell does it sound corny. Musically though, this is a pretty good album.

hmmm, not too bad of a start, but just a heads up, if you love this album there's a slight chance you may not like the previous ones. idk, probably cause they don't sing like they do on this one.

although if you love how they composed their music/played the most, then you'd love some of the older stuff.

I've heard their vocals are more extreme on other albums? Like that Linoleum Knife song? It's a shame, but I'm open-minded and will pretty much listen to anything, it may take some time to adjust though. I like Meshuggah, is it as extreme as that?

^ If you want to explore Mastodon, I'd work backwards if I were you. They started as an Grindcore/Hardcore/Sludge metal band. If you like Blood Mountain, then you'll probably like everything else they did.

That is a very soulful Dylan record, I believe he had members of Dire Straits backing him. It's all very well done, but there are a couple of tunes on it that Dylan attempts to sing that are so very far out of his range, that it's very endearing to hear him attempt, (failing miserably) to hit the high notes. Some people think this was his worst vocal performance, but I love it.

Yeah, soulful's a good word to describe it. It's surprisingly funky in places, or at least much funkier than you'd expect a Dylan album to be, like on Gotta Serve Somebody for instance. There's the odd interesting smattering of gospel around it too. As I say, musically it's a very good, and I never really had a problem with Dylan's voice on it. It's just that the Christian message in the lyrics becomes a bit too overbearing for my tastes here and there. I'd still recommend it to anyone as a good album though.

Well from what I know they sound nothing like Ambulance, but it at least shows you're open-minded. I wouldn't expect this to be quite so out there. More similar to Autechre and Plaid but unique in its own way.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.
