Absolutely not. The early Beatles songs were much more collaborative. She Loves You and I Want To Hold Your Hand were both collaborations. Many of their other hits like We Can Work It Out, Eight Days A Week and Day Tripper were as well.

But if we were to devide the rest of their number hit singles by the primary songwriter.

I definitely disagree that Lennon had more hits, though I agree that to argue over who was more important is a waste of time. Both have millions of devoted fans who think their man is the best, and nothing is going to change their minds.

But maybe I'm unfair for including b-sides as well.

One thing that can be said is that none of Lennons songs are as popular as McCartneys Yesterday or Hey Jude.

I believe I Want to Hold Your Hand spent the most combined weeks at #1 of any Beatles song. But by their own admission, that was a joint effort.

I don't hate Ringo, AND I don't care. Which does nothing to change the hard fact he contributed almost nothing in the way of songwriting. Not to mention he was only a mediocre drummer.

I disagree either way, whether talking about the Beatles years only, or including their solo years.

Lennon's solo career was anemic. The Plastic Ono Band SUCKED.

Lennon fanboys love to claim that he dominated the songwriting in the early Beatles days, but that's pure BS. Most of the songs on their debut album that turned out to be hits, were written primarily by Paul:

"Please Please Me" was mostly John's song, and his only relevant one on the entire album.

How many times does it need to be stated, he DID write songs, therefore he DID contribute to the songwriting, christ and I believe it was already debated on his drumming skills. I wish people weren't so dertermined to hate Ringo.
