I heard Foo Fighers' "Everlong" song for the first time on MusicBanter last year, and although I don't like the sound of the song very much, I do love these lyrics: "You've got to promise not to stop when I say when," and, "Breathe out so I can breathe you in, hold you in."

Those are lovely.

I recently heard a cute cover of "Wishin' and Hopin'" that opens the semi-humorous comedy, "My Best Friend's Wedding," in which Julia Roberts ("Julianne") realizes she is in love with her (rather wooden and two dimensional) best friend right before his wedding.

I wouldn't recommend the movie, except for the very beginning (the song) and the very end, a delightful conversation between Julianne and her gay friend George, who describes her as "sniffing the wind like a dappled deer" and says to her,


But back to the start of the movie. It opens with this . . .
