No radiostation country....and I'm sorry to say no rap or hip-hop or RnB

enemyat_thesix 02-05-2008 10:45 PM

Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Eric Dolphy, Albery Ayler, Wes Montgomery, Michel Camilo, Charles Mingus, Thelonious Monk, Gerry Mulligan, Sun Ra, Herbie Han****

and mother****ing Ornette Coleman

SATCHMO 02-05-2008 11:45 PM

I generally tend to not listen to music made by white people. Not that I planned it that way, or that i'm racist. I just took an inventory the styles of music that I like and the respective artists and discovered that they were dominated by People of African descent.

sleepy jack 02-05-2008 11:52 PM

Yeah! Stick that up your ass you classical honky bastards!

Laces Out Dan! 02-05-2008 11:53 PM

Unfortunately, for a good chunk of my life I had no choice in the matter. My bedroom was right next to my parents growing up, and what can I say? When they get down it ain't no PG rated affair. Its hard to look your mom in the eye at breakfast the morning after you heard her having a full-on screaming orgasm. Maybe that's why I cant listen to white people anymore.

Uh, James Brown isn't jazz but he is awesome. And I'm guessing by screamo, you mean any kind of music with screamed / grunted / strangulated / whispered / unclean in general vocals instead of actual screamo?

British_pharaoh 02-06-2008 05:35 AM

Heavy metal or the majority of country (except for cash, Williams you know the essential stuff)

devilsmaster 02-06-2008 06:16 AM

I reckon there's a lot to take from every genre of music out there and limiting yourself means your just missing out of some of the best music there is.
Especially with Jazz.

Why miss out?
More importantly, why limit yourself musically to fit a self concieved idea of who you think you are?

Urban Hat€monger ? 02-06-2008 11:52 AM

Any genre with the words Power , Death , Technical or Black in them.

Also about 98% of singer songwriters bore the shit out of me.

And also any type of punk that needs a word preceeding it to explain what type of punk it is. (Hardcore / Post being the only exception)

Comus 02-06-2008 12:01 PM

Rap, hip hop, ska, emo, pop or anything with the word "core" in it with the exception of the founders of hardcore punk.

spark10036 02-06-2008 04:08 PM

I refuse to listen to any white rapper, I'm not a rap fan or anything, but white rappers are just wrong...

GravitySlips 02-06-2008 04:12 PM

Power metal, yah.

Exactly! When I think about it, there's no genre I would never listen to... except maybe happy hardcore. :D

There are some I know little about and some I would tend to avoid/ignore, but if someone says "Listen to xxx band", I'm not going to refuse because I don't tend to like the genre.

Inuzuka Skysword 02-06-2008 06:15 PM

I will never listen and like a band who is not original.

Dizzys in the wolf 02-06-2008 06:15 PM

I don't think theres anything I'd say that I'd NEVER listen to, unless it was a band with ****ed up political views etc that I didn't want to encourage.

abstractsolo4agirl 02-06-2008 07:50 PM

uhm..i also dont like listening to hip hop that much .cause the lyrics is stupid and often oppressing towards something .
i just can't stand it .

Marxman 1993.

Senser. Four years before Nu-metal was a genre.

Way to make baseless assumption on something you know nothing about.
"Get Fly (What If Jesus Forgot To Put You On The Guestlist?)"

[Chorus: repeat 2X]
They want us to fight, but we just want to get high
Work all day, all night, trying to get fly
When I get some money I'mma buy me some time
I can't fight your war until I'm finished with mine

[First Verse]
I used to be mad at the government
Redirected some of my anger towards the mothership
Trying to guess which living hell sleeps under
when the grand scheme plan keeps all these people wonderin
Why we still runnin in place frustrated?
Pride is mistaken for hate, it's upgraded
I got a little breath left, let's suffocate it
Point at the epiphanies and call 'em all drug related
The time I spent with my life on bent
Trying to find the friends inside my head
Must have disengaged every phase and stage
Of of my I'm coming, I'm coming, I'm coming of age
My unofficial autobio
Will be accompanied with tips on how to smile
'cause I've found that when they don't see you frown
They never know that your a threat
And they don't sweat you when you came around
So who's going to be my next door savior?
Step up to your neighbor, and do me a favour
Take off the mask, let it all collapse
Empty the pack and watch your wings grow back

[Chorus]

[Second Verse]
Society becomes jealousy, intimacy becomes intensity
Say it with a smile like it's meant to be
And all of a sudden, "boom", American family
And I can tell when your mad at your past
Because you tend to take the turns just a little too fast
And I can tell how you push your foot on the gas
that you already knew that you was gunna finsish last
Slow it down and take a little time
To look up at them clouds with the fake silver lining
Up in a tree knowing damn well you never reach the top
But you don't stop, you keep climbing
Well okay, it's settled
No more nights in this weed and thorn infested meadow
Uh-uh, from this day forth, only forward I pedal
Get the memo I'm cutting the strings Gepetto
Shuffle the cards and let's argue
Rooted in between the computer games and cartoons
Stop and watch us all get lost
Between God and a shot of scotch, let's get fly

[Chorus]
-Slug

enemyat_thesix 02-08-2008 09:15 AM
