I've only got Spirit Of Eden and Laughing Stock and they're both absolutely immense albums (as well as being the only post-rock albums I actually have, unless Rubycon and Phaedra count). After the Flood's probably my favourite from them - such a gorgeous track

Talk Talk - 8 Track

The compilation ends on a more positive note. Please give this a listen people but take into consideration that it is imbued with melancholy and is a very emotional listen:

1) Ascension Day
2) Eden
3) I Don't Believe In You
4) Desire
5) I Believe In You
6) Have You Heard The News?
7) Living In Another World
8) Time It's Time

My mum loves their early stuff but cant fathom the idea that this very same band created Spirit of Eden. I think its definetly up there with Spiderland and Hex

It's a solid comp this, cheers for putting it up

Anyone here who hasn't already got it would enjoy The The's 'Mind Bomb' I reckon. They started very similar to Talk Talk and, like Talk Talk, got more ambitious as they matured with that album. Nowhere near as left-of-field as Spirit Of Eden or Laughing Stock but still an absolutely essential album

Damn, I have to say I think the only Talk Talk song I really knew was "It's My Life". The songs you've posted in this thread, jackhammer, song really cool. I'm going to have to investigate these guys further.

Indeed, IMO, "Mind Bomb" is their best, Matt Johnson's vocals throughout are cool. I really dig" This is the day".

Also, another good band that started off this way, and became pretty good too is Ultravox. They started off as a "synth pop" sorta band, and became something else. John Foxx and Midge Uru's stuff is wonderful.

This is indeed a great compilation .
Ascension Day was building up great, but I hated the way It ended. I Don't Believe In You, Desire, Have You Heard the News & Living in Another World were all superb tracks. Things like the sudden outburst in Desire leaves you speechless. I'm definitely getting one of their releases. Spirit Of Eden or The Colour of Spring seems to be a good choice I guess as I liked all the tracks from those.

Both The Colour Of Spring and Spirit Of Eden are excellent albums. i like their earlier Pop sound as well. You chose my favourite tracks too You may want to check out Mark Hollis's one and only solo album it is superb.
