My love for Entertainment is well documented
Quote:
Entertainment is one of the most one dimensional borefests I've ever had the misfortune of sitting though.
Funky Bass.... angular guitar.... left wing ranting .... more funky bass .... more left wing ranting .... angular guitar....repeat for 50 mins.
Quote:
Flatly produced soulless funk without a hint of originality that feels like it's only there to appear as 'right on' as possible rather than any great musical love for it while you're repeatedly smacked over the head with a bunch of leftie propaganda.

Only a bunch of students could have produced this stuff. The more I hear it the more I hate it. How this ever became considered one of the best post punk albums is beyond me.

Listen to 'The Graveyard & The Ballroom' or 'Y' instead to hear how this stuff should be done
You're welcome

I'm Breathless......

Many lament this as Madonna's worst album, but I actually quite like it. I mean, with songs called ''Hanky Panky'' and ''Cry Baby'' it all sounds a bit juvenile, but it's actually quite amusing. Especially that werido creepy accent she does.

Honestly, I find Entertainment! to be underwhelming too. It's certainly not sterile (I reserve that term for Stadium Arcadium) and there are a couple of tracks I like, but it sounds rather flat to me.

On the topic of funk punk, I'm not quite sure what I used to see in Double Nickels. I do like it but there's a shedload of filler and this is coming from someone who's grossly biased towards anything with nice basswork. How anyone can think it measures up to Zen Arcade is beyond me.

really? DNOTD is literally one of my favorite albums ever, and even the filler is great with alot of the jamming they do on it. in all honesty i felt vice versa when listening to it along with Zen Arcade.

This Charming Man, Hand In Glove, There Is A Light That Never Goes Out, The Boy With A Thorn In His Side, Heaven Knows I'm Miserable Now, Girlfriend In A Coma, to name a few. The singles compilation is imo the best thing The Smiths have to offer.

I like Heaven Knows, but I'm not too familiar with the rest. I'll check em out.

IDK, the Smiths are just reaaaaaaaaaalllllyyyyyyyy dry. The instrumentation is nothing short of coma-inducing and frankly, Morrissey is a crappy singer.
