What do you think of MTV?
 

I mean the music, not the other stuff. I actually stopped watching any of the music on MTV, because all of what they play now I don't really like. :( They just play what's popular and hot at the current moment, and they never show what's good. I hear it's a bit better on MTV2, but I don't get that channel. What do you think about the music being played on MTV2?

I don't like mtv. It mostly plays rap anymore, but I have never been a fan of mtv. That is where people get the idea that Blink-182 is a punk band lol.

A) its true...i thought blink 182 was a punk band...arent they?
B) MTV sucks as far as music b/c they play more stupid shows than music videos
C) only big bands like N'Sync can afford videos...so thats all they freaking play!

mtv is horrid. And they are putting bad taste of music into all the minds of the teenagers who watch it. MTV2 isn't that bad though, I only watch it in my grandma's car though.

MTV would be cool if all the music they play didnt suck

or if they actually played music. All they do now is TRL and then that rap show

yeah, its basically any band with the "coolest" music video gets airtime so any good new band gets the shaft

real world and rich girls are funny to watch though, their worthlessness is hilarious

I agree. MTV is crap. They don't even play good music anymore. The use to play good music when they were first starting out. And they played lots of it. But now all they play is million dollar videos, stupid reality shows, and crappy countdowns.

reality shows... umm... they are all stagged, like The Osborun.. < fake! the real world is real tho, but other then that.. I bet the rest is staged.

FUSE...Anyone here know what im talking about? On satellite it is channel 339. It is the best, it is like MTV, but all the shows are like "rockzilla" "Rock countdown" "power fuse" they are all rock shows.

I got digital cable and they have all the music channels...They aren't that bad. But I'd rather just listen to stuff when I want to not when they play it.

I know what yo u're talking about THRICE....fuse is awesome! But they don't have as much $$$ as MTV, so late night/early morning they have to run those paid programming show things and that sucks...that's the only drawback in my opinion

Yeah when im up ealry i have to sit through those waiting for POWER FUSE to come on.

I would like MTV if they played something worth listening to, not that stupid rap stuff, im talkin about punk. I know punk bands have videos, there not all that great but they have videos. Fiend, I think you should be a little more open to different types of music. I used to be like that as well, but then i started to listen to more music as a whole. I think you should try to be a little more open-minded about it, that's all. I'm not defending rap or anything, just my opinion.

And Jackass and Punk'd...those are two good shows from MTV.

But seriously, if I'm looking for actual music, I'd try Much over MTV...I don't get MuchLoud though. :(

MTV is complete ****e now, a few years back it was good, with a decent mix of music, now I don't bother. I find the best and most varied music channel is VH1 Classic.

Armogeddon is upon us when VH1 classic has the most varied music selection.

The only thing worth watching on MTV was undergrads and clone high, and they cancelled both of those

mtv doesnt play GOOD music?! what the ****, MTV doesnt play MUSIC PERIOD. oh i forgot, everybody loves real world and road rules and butt sex. when will you people realize that reality television is like cinemax porn without the nudity.

Of course all they play is what is popular would it make any sense if they didn’t all they care about is making money. but I cant believe they still have the balls to call it music television

I think MTV sucks now that they only put on programs like 'Room Raiders' or 'Pimp My Ride'. I have always been a fan of MTV2, though. It plays the music I like, has a 'no commercials zone', and Gonzo. Gonzo is brill. Gonzo rules...

I listen to mtv since 1979 the very first day it came on. But for the most part I'd say for the past few years it is really really bad!!!!!!! I don't like the music they play its either bubble gum female pop or hip-hop/rap. Mtv in the 70's 80' and early 90's was so much better. Especially the the 70's and 80's. Mtv 2 I use to have but digital cable comcast tv is far too expensive so we had to downgrade to just basic cable. which only carries Mtv and that sucks! Mtv has too many stupid useless non-music related programs like the awful jessica simpson and her sisters reality show. The real world has been going on for far too long. I hate all those special show the only ones I tolerate is pimp my ride at times. Now vh1 is just as bad but believe it or not a bit better than mtv. It's weird to see rockers like velvet revolver ( couple of the guns & roses band members ) on their channel. What I'm saying is that some of the older rock or metal/ hard rockers are now on the vh1 channel. I try to just listen to the cd player and the radio, this way I can choose the music I love the most. :drummer:

mtv is too gangsta and image-obsessive, but that's what the people want to see. not surprisingly, i read that the average age of the typical mtv viewer is under 18, so that might explain some things.

Music Television and Video Hits, where?

"Reality" TV has set in, with these mindless silly shows that are in no way related to music. P. Diddy's "Making the Band" at least gave you an idea of what it takes to get in the biz. VH1 gives you some nostagia with the flash back shows, but there is very, very little value left in MTV. A shame. Scary what the youth of America and the world are being presented.

More and more people are turning to the Internet to find new and emerging music artists, to find interesting new bands.

I gave up a long time ago... "bad band (if you can call it a band) in most cases goes to the top. Good band makes it, next album is krap, becomes a bad band at the top.... " Does that sound familiar to anyone?

I don't think that mtv is too bad, mtv hits really sucks but some of the programmes r really funny and mtv2 is really cool. I just wish that they would stop subjecting us to newlyweds coz it really is a waste of time...as for punk'd, thats class...Justin timberlake crying like a baby...classic. and recently they did greenday: making the video, that woz cool.

MTV is all over crap, i've only watched it a few times being from australia i dont get it much...but its exactly like our channel V!! they dont put any good music on anymore. channel v mainly has aussie punk bands that r really local and they have alot of live shows, we need a good music tv station me thinks
