The Smiths wrote the worst title songs known to mankind. |
What? The Queen Is Dead is incredible.
|
Meat is Murder is also a good song.

Whatev. That album is just meh all over for me.
Ya'll can whine about that post all you want though. I'd rather whine about all the mentions of Money off DSOTM. Extremely popular and a radio favorite and of course those are always easy to hate on, but it sure as hell isn't a bad song. I still quite love that song, I know it can be annoying when you hear it played over and over, but I think its a brilliantly constructed song, its certainly not the highlight of the album, but I wouldn't say DSOTM has any real highlights or low points. Its an album thats great for how everything flows together, both musically and conceptually. It's still my favorite album. I wouldn't take anything off of it. |

Also.... My Iron Lung on the Bends. Sounds like something from Pablo Honey slipped through the net. |

And it sounds nothing like anything on Pablo Honey
|
It did come out as an inbetween EP between Pablo Honey and The Bends though.
I'd say its a little similar to Pablo Honey, although there's still a fair amount of progression in their sound there. |
Roll With It by Oasis on (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, it sounds like a filler track but they had the nerve to release it as a single. No wonder Blur won "The Battle of Britpop", with Country House.
|
I'd have Roll With It over Country House any day. Both horrible though.
|
Four Horsemen from London Calling
The Overload from Remain in Light Waiting for the Night from Violator Beauty and the Beast from "Heroes" Many many more to come ..... |
I like My Iron Lung, it's got a lot going on. The only song I don't like of The Bends is Bones.

so let's compare crap to gold |
I really can't be bothered to stick up for Roll With It, but Country House is just another example of thse horrible 'wacky' songs that were doing the rounds in the 90's. Like Supergrass - Alright its one of those stupid songs that needs to be erased of the planet. I really don't see much difference between songs like these and the Vengaboys, they're all bloody annoying.
Common People all the way. |

that only makes things worse, they're one of the greatest bands of the 90's
|
So say a lot of people. They're not consistent enough in my eyes.
|
Well I'd say you must be mad for not thinking so but, i'll respect your opinoin.
|
fitter...
happier... more productive... like a bug... crushed... in frozen ****... in a filler track... |
Agree with Mr Dave
CHANT on Metal Box God is Love on What's Going On Vicar in a Tutu on The Queen Is Dead |
I also agree with mr dave.
ummmm money from DSOTM |
is 'money' really that bad or just the most overplayed track from the album?

at this point, knowing what direction the band would eventually take, the track has more value as being indicative of where the band would eventually head off to with kidA. at the time, and keep in mind this was pre-napster, let alone the idea of downloading entire discographies. it sounded out of place, like a piece of filler to split the sides. hell, you could have found it on cassette if you looked hard enough back then. just because it's an early piece of thom yorke electro-ramblings doesn't automatically make it gold. you like it, fine, i'm gonna keep skipping it. |
"Train In Vain" off London Calling by The Clash.
"Josephine" off Bringing Down The Horse by The Wallflowers. |

"So Cruel", Achtung Baby |
Really? My least favorite song off Achtung Baby is Mysterious Ways, quite easly. Not just because it's a godawful annoying pop song, it just dosen't fit in there. Still I agree about it being a great album, I know that's not easy to say down in these parts.

Miss Fay Regrets off Pretty Things - Parachute
Ruins the mood of the album |

Hmm...I guess I'm in the minority by saying that I love Roll With It (a major guilty pleasure, I know) and think that Wonderwall is the one dud on WTSMG? |
