If you read the post he said he liked laid back rap sometimes, therefore the De la.

Radiohead and Modest Mouse write anthemic pop songs much like The Fray do, so theres something catchy he would like there, expect they stretch out into different genres, thus expanding his taste.
Beck meanwhile just writes catchy songs, and can also be put into the laid back rap bit, kinda-ish.

So whats your problem?
Ah, you're talking about Bends Radiohead. As for Modest Mouse they got nothing in common with Fray at all! And those bands I recommended might be "crap", as you put it. But they're just as good as The Fray and probably marginally better. So they're all legitimate referrals.

No point giving him tit for tat.
There's pop songs on OK Computer as well.
I think anyone who likes The Fray has a chance with liking Dashboard and Float On.

That's two songs. "We Were Dead Before The Ship Sank" and Modest Mouse on the whole are WAY WAY too indie and non-mainstream-poppy to suit the tastes he set forth.

I agree with Modest Mouse on the whole, i wouldn't give him Moon and Antartica yet, but the last 2 have tons of hooks on them. Just because its 'non-mainstream-pop' doesn't mean he won't like it because its pop in the first place.

I don't think he's coming back anyway, Crow probably scared him off.

I agree that you can call it pop (albeit indie pop) but the elements involved are definitely far too audacious, quirky and edgy to satisfy a fan of mainstream generic adult alternative radio pop/rock. Do you not agree?

I would doubt it if he comes back so I'm closing this already as the bickering is boring to read. If he comes back I will re-open for him (if he so wishes).
