Best Artist: Round 1: Poll 41

Okay you pick your favorite artists on here and then the top two winners go onto the next round and we repeat the process. Each poll is open for two days.

I'm voting for either Johnston or Guthrie but I'll wait to see who needs it.

Davey Moore 04-07-2008 09:05 PM

Damn, this is tough. I'm leaning towards Guthrie, but I know he'll probably be crushed Round 2. I think there will be a lot more Johnston fans out there, it should be Guthrie and Johnston as top two. I'm going with Guthrie.

Can would be the obvious choice for a prog fan, but I'm going with The Ramones here.

Guthrie is someone I admire a lot, but I'm not gonna lie, I just don't care for that kinda music.

I don't see the appeal of Okkervil River, I've only heard a few songs, but they were so horrible you'd have to force me to listen to more.

Seltzer 04-07-2008 09:26 PM

Well I'm a pretty big CAN fan. They still blow my mind every time I listen to them.

Davey Moore 04-07-2008 11:22 PM

No Johnston votes? Pitiful.

Lizzie 04-07-2008 11:29 PM

Daniel Johnston is the greatest man ever.

Inuzuka Skysword 04-08-2008 04:05 AM

The Ramones and Can are great. I haven't listened to the others so I am going to go with The Ramones. I am in a punk-mood right now anyways.

GravitySlips 04-08-2008 11:24 AM

Can easily

Davey Moore 04-08-2008 03:41 PM

What a travesty that neither Guthrie or Johnston will move on. I guess nobody here likes folk music.

sleepy jack 04-08-2008 04:36 PM

Since Guthrie and Johnston stand no chance I'll be throwing my vote to Okkervil River.

Alfred 04-08-2008 04:50 PM

Guthrie would be my second choice, but I have to vote for The Ramones. They just kicked plain old ass.

Red is my favourite colour, red like your mother's eyes after a while of crying about how you dont love her.

Okkervil river.

I'm sorry. But I just think that is really gay, like something any emo band could come up with.

swim 04-08-2008 06:17 PM

How ignorant of you.

Its in a completely different context and the song is amazing.

You have no freaking clue how ironic this is coming from you.

swim 04-09-2008 05:10 PM

Sorry but I can't think of a single emo band that writes anything like that. You're the one who's made an inane comment, not me.

boo boo 04-09-2008 06:52 PM

Oh yeah I forgot, 90% of emo is not actually emo.

swim 04-09-2008 07:11 PM

Or it is what it's always been for the last 24 years...

Besides there are more "real" emo bands than ones who wrongly apply the label.

It sounds more like grindcore.

boo boo 04-09-2008 09:48 PM

Nah that would be something more like "red like your mothers eyes after I decapitated her and preceded to **** her headless corpse"

Okkervil river.

She says “Why is my life so uneven, and what have I done right but given you your life if after I led you on into that bar room?”

Okkervil River, obviously, gets my vote.
