This is a really good poll. I have honestly never listened to Tom Petty though. Bloc Party is good, but they are the least innovative of the ones up there that I know of. I don't see Nirvana as the most innovative band either. Their really punky grunge was good, but I do see SOME similarity to Mudhoney. I find that Nirvana was a mix of Mudhoney and the Pixies with sludgy riff influence from The Melvins. Then you have Rush and Public Enemy. Rush is good, but the instrumental masturbation can be too much for me sometimes and I feel that Geddy goes too far sometimes. Neil, however, does exactly what he needs to do. Public Enemy is one of my favorite rap artists and they did innovate rap and influence a ton of rap artists to be more political. Not to mention, the Chuck D - Flava Flav thing going on cannot, truly, be found anywhere else. However, they did not really focus on the music so much as they did the lyrics, and the vocals were a bit dominant, but that it rap music or you. So who will it be...
Rush, but only because they were a bit more before their time than Public Enemy. This was a really tough one for me, personally.
