What medium do you listen to music on?

What do you use to listen to music, and what do you listen to it on?

Examples: Vinyl, Cassets, CD, MP3

Examples: 1970 Marshall Amp, Sony 2300 HiFi Speakers, Iriver mp3 player

------------------------------------------------------------------------

M main collection is on MP3, just because that allows me to easily get more for a VERy low price, and put on mp3 player. I have a decent CD collection i regret buying, and a growing collection of Vinyl's, which are imo the only way to really listen to your favorite music.

Whn im out i use my Ipod Classic 8 Gig. At home i either use my 2000 Aiwa Stereo (which still works and sounds great after 8 years) and my Sony record Player which hooks into that stereo via audio cables.

RoemerMW 05-08-2008 10:30 PM

I only listen to music on my Zune and my computer. I would listen to vinyl, but I'm only 17 so I can't really afford that. Mp3's are just so convenient.

Shiva 05-08-2008 11:46 PM

Mainly ipod and Pandora when I'm on my computer

Zer0 05-09-2008 03:26 AM

I listen to music on my ipod a lot and also CDs on my stereo. My stereo is a 3 year old JVC Hi-Fi connected to a 25-year old Toshiba amplifier which allows me to connect 4 speakers. 2 speakers are JVC and i've 2 larger and more powerful Wharfdale speakers that are as old as the amp itself. I dunno how this equipment has lasted so long but it still sounds damn good, they just dont make good sound equipment like this anymore i guess :D.

I can also connect my ipod up to the amp instead of my Hi-Fi by using a headphone jack to phono cable.

When im out and about i always have my Ipod Classic 80G :) and i also have itunes when im on my computer.

Maxwellwebb 05-09-2008 04:49 AM

I use my Zune and Pandora. I use Playlist.com and free.napster.com for specifics.

mr. goth glam 05-09-2008 09:56 PM

I pretty much keep it to CDs and my computer.

Not cool enough for anything else, I fear...

NSW 05-09-2008 10:45 PM

My Zune...I just upgraded to a 30G from a 4G, so I have alot of new space to fill!

And Rezz just reminded me of something...the other day at Costco, my husband and I saw a vinyl record player that will convert your music to MP3. How cool is that???? I think we're gonna get it.

sweet_nothing 05-09-2008 10:46 PM

My computer mostly

boo boo 05-09-2008 10:53 PM

Right now just my iTunes on my pc. My cds and cd player are still unpacked since I moved.

What sucks is I don't have quality speakers (my pc is a laptop), and the only pair of headphones I have that still works (damn cat chewing on the cords) is a piece of crap, I actually hear the music better without it.

Farfisa 05-10-2008 12:02 AM

As soon as I get a ****ing Ipod I'll be able to get funky in public, but I usually listen to my music on my pc.

ps. don't mind that NIN there, I still haven't uninstalled lastfm on my parents computer.

15Steps 05-10-2008 04:43 AM

the interbuttz and itunes.

but when i can, vinyl is amazing.

Whats wrong with NIN?

Anyway, I just listen to stuff on my computer or music-phone (which is sucky when it comes to music playing), but my 30gb Zune should be arriving in the mail soon :)

As far as my speakers go, they're alright, but I have a semi-decent pair of headphones that I use most of the time. They're skullcandy lowriders. Great brand and good prices, plus they look cool :thumb:

jackhammer 05-10-2008 11:24 AM

I listen to MP3's when i'm surfing the net and although I have approx 1400 albums (60% MP3 40% C.D's) I only usually have about 20gb on my PC at any time. I listen through a pair of Sennheiser headphones.

I listen to C.D's on my 10 year old Panasonic hi-fi which has stood the test of time remarkably well and has a manual equaliser which is much better than horrid presets. I sometimes listen to music through my home cinema set up which consists of a Pioneer 5.1 amplifier with 80w perchannel going through Yamaha speakers and Played on a Cambrige Audio high end DVD player.

Newo 05-10-2008 03:37 PM

well I use 3
1) Mp3 - Sandisc sansa
2) C.d. - Sony radio
3) computer - Itunes 4.0.7 (I would upgrade, but it would take forever for me to get all the information.)

Hype8 05-10-2008 05:13 PM

Sony V6's and iPod - most of the time
iTunes and creative speakers = on the computer
ipod dock - around the house

Piss Me Off 05-11-2008 06:58 AM

My laptop aided by my lovely hard-drive.
I also have a crappy 250mb mp3 player for when i'm out. You may s****** at that but i love it to bits, i-pods can f*ck right off.

hockeytard3650 05-11-2008 11:53 AM

the radio, and i use roxio on my PC

Son of JayJamJah 05-14-2008 04:23 PM

All of my music in digital now. I have my entire catalog on my PC and load it into an Ipod to listen away from my Computer. I have a Bose Wave Radio that I really like to use if not my computer which has nice bose mini speakers.

I still use play Vinyl though, especially in my basement

Dr_Rez 05-14-2008 07:11 PM

@jackhammer Which headphones exactly may i ask? and what recommendations might you have for the 1-200$ price range?
(in desperate need of new pair)

Anything by Sennheiser even at their budget range is better than many pairs twice their price. I use this budget pair which cost me 25 pounds (approx $50) and they sound clean crisp and true. I am upgrading when I get a better PC and maybe double the price but even then you will only be paying $100. Well worth the money. They are not the coolest looking but who cares really?
Sennheiser Worldwide: HD 202 - HD 202

CrackledNitro 05-15-2008 12:47 PM

CDs in the car, Pandora at work, iTunes/iPod at home, and concert DVDs through the TV. And oddly enough, in my head too; just 'thinking' songs.

kimberlyann 05-15-2008 01:39 PM

Mainly Cd's and vinyl

nelsonh 05-17-2008 12:37 PM

Usually my iPod or on my computer.

icebox 05-27-2008 03:08 AM

haha we're 90's babies, we all have one.

Dr_Rez 05-29-2008 06:27 PM

Hmm...when will CD's become the next cassette. Obsolete and laughed at.

sl1ck 05-29-2008 08:19 PM

I listen to music on just about everything but cassette players. I listen to music on my CD player frequently, my computer frequently, and my record player frequently. Although mainly the stuff I listen to on my record player is old blues music (i.e. Mississippi John Hurt).

midasfx 05-29-2008 10:01 PM

I listen to the radio station i made unless im in my car then its cassette (billy joel)

Bangin Drums 05-29-2008 10:16 PM

What about when your on the run and can't plug it in?

I hate doing it, but it would bug me if i couldn't use headphones.

jackhammer 07-11-2008 04:24 PM

Just got myself two-thirds of a great system. All I need is a top notch C.D player which I should get in the next couple of weeks:

Amp-Yamaha (mine is in silver):

Floor standing speakers-Wharfedale Pi limited editions:

I am going to push for a Marantz player. I cannot wait to hear this baby in motion!

That's hard to say. Everyone loves the digital age but CD/DVD's are still the most reliable media around. No matter how scratched a disc with the right equipment and software anything can be recovered. Only disadvantage to DVD's is the small capacity but I back everything on it I'm not trusting no HD with my collection.
Heh I use my psp for the car cuz its nice to have it when your stuck waiting or whatever also yeah lots from the computer with a peavey bass practice amp.

My first CD player was a Marantz.
Currently, I've got a Denon with Mission speakers.

Edit: And the Marantz played through free standing Wharfedales too!
Teesdale if my memory is right. They were big buggers and made my bedroom windows rattle

lucifer_sam 07-11-2008 07:43 PM

I'm not an audiophile, so my system is relatively modest.

Usually mp3s from computer hooked up to system: JBL Creature II. Vinyls on a Pioneer turntable or CDs in a REALLY OLD Sony player connected to a JVC hub and home theater system downstairs.
