For one, I don't know too many prog fans who discriminate against prog thats not very complex or are that anal about technical skill.

I mean, you can't possibly be that closed minded if you get into something like prog in the first place. A genre many people hate for finding it inaccessible. For one prog bands draw inspiration from just about any genre you could think of. And more importantly prog is very broad, there are many prog bands who are at opposite ends of the sonic spectrum.

Take many of the most popular prog bands of the 70s, everyone from Yes to Hawkwind to Gentle Giant to Caravan. All these bands had a sound that was completely unique from the other and from any band that came before them.

Actually the music fan I dislike the most are the type who say things like 'how could Elliott Smith and King Crimson be winning this poll?'.

Many of them tho are not even fans. They are just your everyday Jo who listens to his Top 40 radio station and watches MTV.

What do you mean, "Urban ur right"? Urban didn't even claim to be right. Since you really choose to dispute this, mate, I'll have to make the case crystal clear.

Hard-Fi, for a start, don't even claim to be an indie label band, so there's no reason why anybody else ought to try. They themselves list their label type as "major" on their myspace page (for marketing purposes, however, "indie" and "alternative" are among the genre names placed at the top). They never wanted to be thought of merely as an indie band, and certainly don't wish to be grouped together in the same ship as other such bands right now. Frontman Richard Archer himself expressed that he sees himself as being in competition with Eminem, not some small-time indie acts. They don't even listen to indie music and claim their influences are totally elsewhere. As if that wasn't enough, they are as a matter of fact expressly and unashamedly under the control of Warner Music Group as is evident from any Once Upon A Time In The West album cover. There is no way anybody could seriously make a claim that they are an independent label band of any sort.

Arctic Monkeys on the other hand have no major label distribution at all. Domino records is not owned at all by any of the majors. They are in fact, perhaps to the surprise of many of a person, a real indie band.

Hard Fi are signed to Virgin now. Arctic Monkeys have signed to Warners.

Now you just make stuff up on the spot. What are you, a compulsive liar or something? It's Hard Fi that are with Warner, and are openly major label. Arctic Monkeys are signed to only one label, and that is Domino Records. Before contriving things on the spot, you should bear in mind that this is the Internet for heaven's sake, and these things are pretty easy for anybody to check.

On the topic of Hard-Fi, in case there was seriously any doubt:

Atlantic Records :: Hard-Fi
WMG Recorded Music

Their myspace page where it openly states that their label type is "major":

MySpace.com - Hard-Fi - UK - Alternative / Indie / Punk - www.myspace.com/hardfi

And Richard Archer's own quote which quite fittingly appears at the top of their Atlantic Records page:

"'What's the point of being parochial and small-time? You've got to think big.' - Richard Archer, vocals, Hard-Fi

I agree with the mainstream hip hop call. Pretend Gangster Rappers are such twats.

People into Nazi Punk are generally not the greatest people.
