Best Artist: Round 2: Poll N

Polls open for two days, only 17 polls this time around, vote for your favorite etc etc etc.

I vote for the Smiths

NSW 05-12-2008 05:47 PM

Dylan.

The Unfan 05-12-2008 05:50 PM

Beatles.

i'm shocked

jackhammer 05-12-2008 05:51 PM

The Beatles obviously.

Lizzie 05-12-2008 05:52 PM

The Smiths

boo boo 05-12-2008 05:56 PM

There are some rare cases where its not just your opinion anymore. If you vote against The Beatles, you are objectively wrong.

Inuzuka Skysword 05-12-2008 05:58 PM

Whoever doesn't or didn't vote The Beatles needs to admit right now that they are the best up there.

sleepy jack 05-12-2008 05:58 PM

The reason I'm not voting for the Beatles is because I know they'll pass with or without my vote not because I think the Smiths are better though I do like them better.

The Unfan 05-12-2008 05:59 PM

Where is Oomph! when you need him?

I won't be surprised when he becomes a forum meme.

Duke Of Slander 05-12-2008 06:08 PM

The Beatles are overrated. The Smiths.

Urban Hat€monger ? 05-12-2008 06:08 PM

I'm not voting for The Beatles out of personal preference , like I have been voting on for all these polls. I listen to at least 2 artists on there much more than I do The Beatles so why vote for them?

I've not been voting on who's the 'Best' band and I don't intend to start now. The Smith's are more relevant to me growing up , I listen to them more and so they get my vote.

Let's see you argue your way out of that one Rommel

I said favorites in the opening post. It's not even really 'best' I just put best because I didn't feel like calling it. "Voting on Your Own Personal Criteria Be It Your Own Taste or The Most Legendary or Critically Acclaimed etc Artist Poll."

Jonovision 05-12-2008 06:46 PM

AIC, this one was hella tough

Alfred 05-12-2008 06:48 PM

The Bob Dylans

sweet_nothing 05-12-2008 06:54 PM

The Smiths, they say something to me about my life

Yep, No Pussy footing.

Civic Depreciator 05-12-2008 09:05 PM

It was a close one between The Beatles, The Smiths, and Bob Dylan. I went with Bob Dylan because he had the least of those three artists.

sweet_nothing 05-12-2008 09:09 PM

How could The Beatles be winnig? C'mon guys don't they win everything? Yes we all know they're the most influential rock band ever, but better than the Smiths or even Bob Dylan, are you guys high?

ProggyMan 05-12-2008 09:11 PM

Uh, so? They win for a reason, they're really damn good and have a diverse catalogue that appeals to almost (OOMPHLOL) everyone.

It's just so mudane to see them win, they aren't as good as the Smiths or Dylan musicaly or lyricaly, imo.

ProggyMan 05-12-2008 09:24 PM

Musically they're a thousand times more adventurous and complex than Dylan and The Smiths. Not better per se, but certainly no reason the see them lose. Sure it's mundane, but so what?

maybe it's time for a change, i know this may come as a shock to you but i think they're not as good as u think they are, and more complex......no.

ProggyMan 05-12-2008 09:34 PM

Change isn't always good. I voted for Dylan btw. As to complexity, but Day In The Life? I Want You? Happiness Is A Warm Gun? Revolution 1?

sweet_nothing 05-12-2008 09:39 PM

Barbarism Begins At Home? This Charming Man? William, It Was Really Nothing? Girl Afraid? And least we not forget HOW SOON IS NOW?

The Beatles are better than The Smiths in every concievable way and not just because The Smiths were a bunch of emo kids or because Morrissey is a huge spiteful douchebag who wrote some of the most retarded and overrated lyrics of the latter 20th century.

ProggyMan 05-12-2008 09:40 PM

Uh, none of those are very complex, and the Smiths never really went outside of their comfort zone.

Uh, I love the Smiths, but they are overrated especially lyrically.

Ummm yeh sure, I can play alot of Beatles songs on guitar, come together, i am the walrus, help,.....ect. But i am yet to master a Smiths song. And never left their comfort zone? Meat is Murder, ever hear of it?

ProggyMan 05-12-2008 09:52 PM

I own the album. It's not very different stylistically than anything else they've done. Certainly not out of their comfort zone.

sweet_nothing 05-12-2008 09:56 PM

Quote:

Meat Is Murder is the most eclectic Smiths album, featuring songs which had elements of styles such as funk, rockabilly, ballad, post-punk and dance, along with the Smiths' signature indie rock. As such, it contains some of the most unusual and lauded songs of the Smiths catalogue. However, because of the album's extreme diversity and lack of coherence, some fans believe it is the least listenable work from their catalogue. Considered a 'grower' rather than an instant favourite, the album is often overlooked in favour of more accessible work.

boo boo 05-12-2008 09:58 PM

Don't forget the worst title song of any album in history.

Lol, 'elements of styles'. Seriously, adding in a small amount if a sprinkling of other genres doesn't count as going outside of your comfort zone.

Wrong.

Arguing who is better between the Smiths and the Beatles is ridiculous anyway.

ProggyMan 05-12-2008 10:18 PM

Yeh why don't you come back when you have a valid argument instead of posting random **** you can't back up.
