Best Song of the 2000's

I was talking about this with a friend and we really came up with nothing lol so lets hear it ppl... what is the best song made since the year 2000?

personally i might say one of the following, no particular order:

the luckiest - ben folds
someday - the strokes
evil - interpol
pyramid song - radiohead

Dr_Rez 05-17-2008 11:05 AM

Interpol alone has about 10 better songs. Slowhands, Rest My Chemistry, Place is Trick...actually pretty much all of Our love to admire.

British_pharaoh 05-17-2008 01:06 PM

Apartment - Fall Into Place (best song of 2007)

Franz Ferdinand - Take Me Out
Rapture - House of Jealous Lovers
Gnarls Barkley - Crazy
Arctic Monkeys - Fake Tales of San Fransisco

Comus 05-17-2008 07:50 PM

And gather ye sheep, to thy black parade for thy kingdom has cometh and this world will wallow in the mediocrity of thy creation.

ben folds is better than 3 out of the 4 bands you listed (radiohead being the better band imo), he writes beautiful songs, and has a great, unique voice

he also puts on an absolutely amazing live show, gets the crowd so involved, best live performer i've seen

Seven Nation Army by White Stripes

Other than that, I cant recall a band that made an impact in this decade like Nirvana did for the 90's, Punk rock and hair metal in the 80's, Led Zeppellin, Black Sabbath in the 70's or even the Beatles and the Birtish invasion in the 60's. I mean alot of bands that I like that were formed after the year 2000 are usually bands from independant labels.

ProggyMan 05-23-2008 05:02 PM

Punk Rock in the 80's? Who gives a **** about impact, it's about the music.

Nirvana_man 05-23-2008 05:28 PM

You missed my point, when the beatles for example came out with their first hit, it made a huge impact because it was their music was totally new to the world, they were innovators just like Elvis in the 50's before them. Today's music, well mind you there are bands that I like, but I cant say they changed my life forever as many of the bands I like have copied from other bands. Anyways thats my view of music these days, but remember folks its my opinion only, so dont bash me because I have an opinion :P

ProggyMan 05-23-2008 05:32 PM

Oh, it's all in good fun. Anyway you weren't very clear and you listing some of the most important bands of each decade didn't help. Elvis wasn't much of an innovator...What bands have you heard from the past decade?

There's the White Stripes even though they came out in the late 90's (I think), Arctic Monkey aint bad (I would say the Brits have the best rock bands atm while the US is more into hip hop, rap, if I base on what I see people listening in my area), the Hives (even though they came up in the late 90's), Foo Fighters (even though they were formed in mid 90's), Time Again (even though they sound alot like Rancid), The Killers....I mean I like all those bands but I dont insane over them as I did with Nirvana or Oasis back when I was a kid in the 90's.

winigwl 05-23-2008 05:43 PM

amsterdam- coldplay
reckoner- radiohead
crazy- gnarls barkley
don't know why- norah jones

British_pharaoh 05-23-2008 06:05 PM

WaspStar 05-23-2008 06:10 PM

I haven't heard much "new" music, but I'm really into Interpol's "The New."

radiohead has been making said impact for the past 15 or so years...

NoseClams 05-25-2008 11:45 PM

nope all you guys are wrong. the best song is easily
miley cyrus - see you again!!!

uniquetrax 05-27-2008 02:37 AM

1. Britney Spears: Stronger
Just like her last year's "Crazy", this song has a pounding rock beat and a suitably big chorus. The video reminds me of Lita Ford's "Kiss Me Deadly".

2. Place-2-Go: Higher And Higher
Former hard rocker Patrik Linman aims for the hearts of the Savage Garden/BSB/etc fans. With this very catchy track he might actually make it.

3. Backstreet Boys: Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely
This one is a moody, dark ballad with excellent vocal arrangements.

4. Leann Rimes: Can't Fight The Moonlight
Song featured in the movie "Coyote Ugly".

I'd put up your flameshield Ethan.

sleepy jack 05-28-2008 08:14 PM

Listening to Converge is the musical equivalent of slamming your face into a door while getting pissed on by some scene kid fatass who think he's metal.
