I'd definitely suggest Hella and Don Caballero. They are quite essential as far as the genre goes.

Cheers! Not the biggest fan of Hella (Zach Hill is a great drummer, but his music just sounds like it's falling apart all the time), but maybe I haven't heard the right stuff. I'll look harder.

Wow, I was just looking for some math rock and I seem to have come at the right time.

I need some heavier math rock with more focus on the instruments. So basically closer to 65daysofstatic than Algernon Cadwallader.

I would definitely check out that thread linked by +81, but while I'm here, I'll suggest Sleeping People and Rumah Sakit. I also just discovered Three Trapped Tigers and they've impressed me.
