Amazing song...looking for similar

So I watched the movie Twilight the other day with the girlfriend. Im 29 year old guy, wasnt into the movie, but there was a song in it which caught my attention.

After doing some digging, I was dismayed to learn it was sung by Mr. Robert "El Pompadour" Pattinson. The song is called "Let me Sign" (I'd love to post a link but cant as this is my first post)

Now I can't very well drive around listening to the Twilight soundtrack, so can anyone recommend anything similar to this style of music...I know Ive heard its like before...

Thanks!

Entering the realm of noise

What up Avant Garde/Experimental

I was wondering if any of you guys have any recommendations for a good NOISE album to buy. I want something rhythmic, but full of surprises. Also, I love the sound my washing machine makes.

Also, anything that may aid in the art of falling asleep would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

^ Give Swans - Soundtracks For the Blind a try.

As for non-elevator music you can nod off to, try some down-tempo trip-hop like Morcheeba's Big Calm, or Thievery Corporation's the Mirror Conspiracy. Brian Eno's ambient albums, like Music For Airports fit the bill quite nicely too.

Yeah, I rarely fall asleep to music, but that's definitely one album that's an exception to the rule.

I thought he/she/it was asking for two recs - something noise/avante-garde and something more down-tempo?

edit - just re-read it. I'm gonna go back to sleep (good old Soundtracks For the Blind)

Pinback

Hey everyone, what do you think of Pinback? Also, can anyone recommend any artists that are similar to Pinback?

I love Pinback. You might check out some other bands that feature frontman Rob Crow (his solo work, Other Men, Heavy Vegetable, and Thingy) although most of those are a bit rougher in sound. Other Men is the one I would recommend most out of those, as it's the most recent. You may also check out the bass player's previous band, Three Mile Pilot though they have a rather dark/somber sound and don't sound much like Pinback. Great band though, reuniting as we speak.

As for bands not related but having a similar sound, I would recommend The Shins, Death Cab For Cutie, Postal Service, Spoon, Minus the Bear, The New Pornographers (and A.C. Newman's solo stuff). There are probably many others but I really don't listen to a lot of their contemporaries.
