It's got to have fairly long stretches with no words (just music or beat or something) so we can use it under dialogue. It's gotta be serious, and it's gotta be gritty. I'm thinking something actually about prison or getting busted or something. Something about how much it sucks to be prison. Not "boo yah, bein' a gangsta rules", but more "damn, i miss my kids and my girl" sorta stuff. Gettin' it?

Bluesy, soulful is good. Cheery bad.

Thanks much.

"Prison Break" used Massive Attack's "Teardrop" to great effect for something similar...

This maybe stretching but some of Downlink's songs might be able to do the trick.

Here is the music I like the most:

Slipknot
Powerman 5000
Toby Mac
Skillet

What other bands should I try?

Don't say:

Linkin Park
Rob Zombie

Because I have listened to those enough.

I'm currently looking for progressive metal bands in the vein of Intronaut, Kylesa, Rosetta, Torche and Mastodon. Preferably something with relatively clean vocals. Thanks in advance.

Hello Folks I'm new here.
I've been searching something that sounds like st germain - pont des arts
for a long time. I do not know what kind of music is that.
I'm looking for some sort of music in which it will be something like that part on organ/piano/sythesia(do not know what is it exactly) or maybe some sax or whatever but ya know... little funky but very brisky like in that song. I've been listening to other songs of st germain and they are in totally different style (similar to parov stelar) but i'm searching sth which is instrumental improvisation but brisky, mostly played in some pubs or restaurants etc. But dk what kind of music should i search for is it jazz or funk or lounge? is there any special name for that kind of music? please help me.
Thanks for any reply

here is some mix of that song
yotb - WBYYzK-xLF4

and the other one which is slightly different but that's the kind of what i'm looking for

yotb - GHoQFusEhXQ
Funky Lounge

but need more and more and more ^^

I've been looking for something similar to 'Clair de Lune' by Flight Facilities for ages and haven't had any success. From what I can work out it's classified as downtempo, but I've spent a fair amount of time going through downtempo songs and none of it appeals to me, whereas 'Clair de Lune' is probably my favourite song of the last year. None of Flight Facilities' other stuff is similar either so it's kinda tricky.

So, does anyone know anything vaguely similar? By similar I mean, the same sense of minimalist beauty, preferably sad but it's not essential. Thanks!
