Default Gymnastics Floor Music

Hey there.

I've been a gymnast since the age of 3 (almost 17 years) and I've also been coaching for 5 years now. My passion is floor music. I LOVE digging up the good stuff. I've recently fell in love with Gotan Project.

I was wondering if anyone knows of any good instrumental artists, or just songs, that have a good strong beat, with slow, and fast parts?

Thanks!!!

Default The genre I can never find... Is it blues or what?

I occasionally come across a specific song that NAILS what I'd like all my music to sound like... It always seems to have some blues elements.
Recently a few of Ben Harper's songs are along those lines...
'walk away' and 'Ground on down' are both right up my alley... I've also, in the past, loved Chris Thomas King's version of Hard Time Killing Floor Blues...

Most of Ben Harper's stuff is not my style... and virtually all of CTK's stuff is not my style...

So... pick a genre and some artists for me.

Read my title. Is that a band or a song? No. It's a genre...

Well... I don't care if it's blues based. That's just what it seems like those songs are to me... blues/soul or something...

Fat Freddy's Drop (although they have a dash of Reggae in there)
Robert Cray
Ry Cooder
John Martyn
Seasick Steve
Stevie Ray Vaughan

Give them a listen.

Dunno about the others, but Stevie Ray Vaughan is different for sure... i know him. Have you heard "walk away" (Ben harper)?
