Well, actually, his new singles are far from impressive, but Person Pitch is near-flawless.

Exactly. Frequenters of this site will have their blogs of choice and such as a more consistent source for new music, but for the more casual listener, Pitchfork probably seems like a godsend compared to Rolling Stone or w/e.

I really wasn't being sarcastic at all when I started this thread. I honestly really trust Pitchfork. If you're on Pitchfork in the first place, then it's a great place to find music you know you'll like. If you don't like the music Pitchfork hypes, then you wouldn't be on the site anyway.

I really like that Jet review with the monkey peeing. I thought it was funny and pretty accurate when I first saw it forever ago and I still think that.

Anyway, the animosity pitchfork has been getting has become way more annoying then hipsters who model their taste after pitchfork's ratings and lists. The site's my homepage, because like Marijan said, it talks about the music I like. I don't really take their reviews that seriously though, considering I'm a huge Saddle Creek/Team Love fan and any artists related to those labels typically is lambasted in their reviews for whatever fickle reason they can use to justify their bias. I do think they're a good source of music news though and on what's being released. I don't know why the site is such a big deal to people, regardless of which extreme you choose to take on it.

I think it originated from its want to be different for the sake of being seen. Pitchfork is the Lisa Lamponelli of Music Reviews; bloated, crass, and always striving for shocking.

As it relates to music of course.

I know I've probably said this a hundred times by now, but I like Pitchfork because I think they write well and their taste in music is very compatible with mine and since I sadly don't have the time anymore to download the whole friggin internet and listen to every goddamn underground band whose grandma paid for their recording session I need a filter, a site to give me recommendations which I will then listen to and either like or dislike.

Also, those kinds of reviews account for about one millionth of their output. Sure, sometimes they like to take the piss out of some band/albums, but most of the time they write thought out reviews...

I didn't pass any judgement on what i thought the music press was MEANT to be about.

I also didn't take a dump on Pitchfork. Infact I said i don't read it.

I said that I personally have no reason to pay any attention to it or any other music press for that matter.
