The hypocracy being that if you never listen to modern music you can hardly judge if it "all sucks". Trust me, there is no musical depression that settled over the Earth when the 80's ended.

If anything, it lifted.

I can see how the sound of contemporary music can be faulted (digital vs. analog, live setups vs. meticulously overdubbed tracks), and you could even argue that great songs (as opposed to records) have been lacking for a while...but it makes no sense to say that, after a certain point, people just stopped making great music. Maybe they stopped making great rock music, or jazz, or classical, or whatever genre you prefer...so give other genres a chance.

It really isn't fair to say that an entire genre or time period of music sucks... even if you truly hate all modern music, you don't have to ruin it for everyone else...it's a phase, let the kids have their fun. They will grow out of it.

Thank you. I used to think like that in like 9th grade, but then it hit me-would it make any sense at all if something like music, that's been expressing the human spirit better than anything else for thousands of years suddenly ended after (insert last great record someone has in their collection and assumes everything after blew)? It doesnt make sense, music will always be great, and it will always be presented in different ways, and thank CHRIST I figured that out, or Id be stuck with DSOTM on repeat for the rest of my life like all the classic rock bores.

11 : Winehouse

I should have done this around the same time as Doherty but never mind.
I hate Winehouse for the total opposite reason I hate Doherty. Doherty is a no talent waster , Winehouse has talent in buckets but is pissing it away.
I might even have sympathy for her but I can't seem to find any as all of her problems are self induced. I just can't bring myself to feel sorry for someone for someone who spends the night shooting anything & everything with her scummy rich kid who never grew up husband and then cheating people who have paid money to see her by cancelling or putting on half assed concerts.

I keep on seeing people telling the media to leave her alone but let's be honest if she didn't do any of this stuff they wouldn't be interested and would leave her alone anyway.

I'm bored of this soap opera now.

Totally agree, although i do not think her to be the great 'talent' she is claimed. Do we really need more retro soul? we got plenty of real soul

10 : Politicians Who Use Music To Show How 'Down With the Kids' They Are

Apparently a young David Cameron's favourite band ever was The Smiths. I know this because he keeps on going on about it all the time , so much so he decided to visit the Salford Lads Club , as seen on the inside cover of The Queen Is dead. And many LOLS were had when the local Labour party showed up and protested about his visit and stopped him getting a publicity shot outside the building.
I'm sure i'm not the only one who wonders why , if he was indeed such a fan of the band that meant so much to him why on earth he would become a Thatcherite and join the Tory party. Somehow I get the impression he may have slighty missed the point somewhere.

Apparently he also loves The Killers and regually plays them on his IPod.

Cunt.

As for Blair much was made of him being in a band in his younger days. Looking at that picture all I can assume where that this band were some godawful prog rock tribute band who probably played Genesis covers.
ROCK N ROLL eh Tone !!!!!!!!!!!!!
