Here places in which bowling takes place are referred to as alleys. And rather aptly so I might suggest.

If you're posting in the music forums make sure to be thoughtful and expressive, if you're posting in the lounge ask yourself "is this something that adds to the conversation?" It's important to remember that a lot of people use each thread. You're probably not as funny or clever as you think, I know I'm not.

78 : Prog fans who think that because they own OK Computer or Lateralus that it somehow makes them an expert on all current music.

So you own an album less than 30 years old. Good for you but we still don't give a flying fuck about what you think about our favourite bands because at the end of the day you listen still to Genesis and we don't.
You hit the nail right on the head. On progarchives theres a bunch of old f*cks who pretty much just hand out 5 stars to all the Supertramp and Happy The Man albums they own but they always have to throw in an album by Radiohead, The Mars Volta, Sigur Ros or some other modern band just to give it a lousy review and have a long boring rant about how modern music dosen't rank up against the classics, even though that one album alone is probably the extent to which they bothered listening to anything since 1981 not made by f*cking Marillion.

I was actually thinking more along the lines of the ones that DO like them and use that as an excuse to bore everybody that they're up to date with the current music scene because of this.

They also have a habit of comparing bands that should never be compared, and by that I mean any modern band that could be considered progressive rock in one way or the other.

"Tool try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that Dream Theater does"

"The Mars Volta try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that Tool does"

"Radiohead try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that The Mars Volta does"

"Sigur Ros try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that Radiohead does"

"Godspeed try so hard to be progressive, but they just don't have the talent that Sigur Ros does"

And so on and so on.

Sh*t like that especially bothers me.

75 : People Saying I Should Have 'Real Emo' In This List

Quite honestly I couldn't care less about it. I don't think anybody really cares about what's real and what isn't real emo apart from a few diehard fans or people looking score points on an internet forum to show how smart they are. I think 4 or 5 years of emo kids whining about it has just bored everyone to tears on the whole subject.
Besides , real emo is practically a nostalgia trip now anyway. Virtually all of their favourite bands have spilt up or gone commercial , why would I want to piss on their parade even more? Give them a couple of more years and they'll be like the old punks in the 80s boring the hell out of anyone about the 'spirit of 77' unable to move on.

If they want to go around trying to find every single obscure split or demo from 8 or 9 years ago like a bunch of rabid trainspotters let them , they're not doing me any harm.

74 : Leona Lewis And Jimmy Page At The Olympics

A Simon Cowell handpuppet and an ageing rocker living on past glories who hasn't stolen a good song* in over 30 years.

Congratulations to the 2012 London Olympic committee events organisers for managing to encapsulate exactly what current British culture is all about in a 4 minute long nutshell in a far better way than I ever could.

* I meant to write written a good song , I do apologise. Easy mistake to make.

Yeah....this has been plaguing music for years. Finally someone spoke out against Leona Lewis and Jimmy Page at the 2008 Olympics. I remember back in the '80s, I thought this was getting out of control.
