Listening to a certain piece of music can have so many memories attached to it and that is an amazingly powerful and personal tool.

Actually, this could just as easily go into the "100 things that piss me off..." thread, for one of the reasons you mentioned; the bad & painful memories. How many songs have been ruined because we associate them with bad times?

Very true actually, in a way that's all part of the fun though, in a sadistic sort of way. I do like to go down memory lane everynow and again and relive a bit of heartbreak

I agree that some albums can be enjoyable in a masochistic way, but I could list dozens of albums that I sold because I couldn't listen to them anymore...

#94. Music Collections.

Having a huge music collection is immediately cool even if half of it is dross. Of course my collection is flawless and is held up as a prime example of good taste*Nevertheless there is nothing more satisfying than a wall full of C.D's that you cannot help but show off whenever someone is around. Only a wall full of DVD'S is as cool and of course I have both.

A collection of stamps is crap because you can only look but not touch. Trainspotter's journals are geek encrypted and coin collections really should be cashed in. So expansive music collections deserve their rightful place.

* Tongue in cheek required for this.

#93. Music Videos.

Even though I am a big film fan, sometimes a 4 minute music vid packs in more inventiveness, guile and originality than your average Hollywood blockie. It is no coincidence that music vid directors are highly sought after in Hollywood. Why wait for 90 minutes for a conclusion when 4 will do?

Make sure you watch it (and yes it is the official video) WARNING FOR ALL THE TEENAGERS: EXPLICIT SCENES. For everyone else: a time to lament

I'm quite proud i'm finally running low on shelf space for my CD's, i'll be leaving it all behind for uni but in a way i can start anew, can't wait.

#91.Reggae.

Reggae is probably the only music that A) I can put on at anytime of the day and B) I know will make me all warm and fuzzy inside. I know I keep extolling the virtues of Reggae but this is because I am correct. Never look for the musicianship in Reggae. That is not what it is about. It is music with passion. It is music that is fun. It is music with a message. It is music with great big fuck off basslines. It is music that never has to impress you, it only needs to move you. Get that and you will love Reggae forever.
