Default Hall Of Fame: Induction Thread Number 1

FOR CHRIST SAKES READ THIS FIRST

Music Banter Hall Of Fame: Induction thread

Welcome to the first of the Musicbanter Induction threads, where it will be confirmed which of the nominated artists will make it into the Hall Of Fame. The nominees are:

Led Zeppelin
Joy Division
Elliott Smith
The Beatles
King Crimson
Wu-Tang Clan
The Velvet Underground

How this works

If you have over 100 posts under your name then you can vote, feel free to voice your opinions if you have less posts though.
There won't be a poll, votes will be made publically by posting in this thread. You can vote for yes or no as many times as you want, as long as there's an explanation for your vote.
So a post here would look like....

Led Zeppelin: Yes, because....
Joy Division: No, because....
Elliott Smith: Yes, because...
etc.

The artists that get 2/3rd Yes votes for them get in, easy as that. Those who don't get in can still be nominated at a later date.

This'll be open for a week and a half, since people seem to be confused remember you are voting what YOU think should be in the Hall Of Fame, not what you think others would want or whatever.

Get voting peeps!

Nope.
As far as write-ups go i was guessing the original write-ups for when they were nominated would be used, although if anyone wants to write something then i'll have no objection.

Okie dokie.

Led Zeppelin- No because they bore the arse off me.
Joy Division- Yes because those 2 albums are still eminently listenable.
Elliott Smith- No. His music does'nt touch me as much as other singer songwriters.
The Beatles- Yes. Made the odd good track
King Crimson- Yes. A quality prog band that still are progressive.
Wu-Tang Clan-No. Does'nt matter how revered the album is, I prefer other Hip Hop by far.
The Velvet Underground-No. Don't listen to them enough. Influence does'nt neccessarily mean it should be inducted. A body of consistent work should be a factor too.

Led Zeppelin: Yes, stupid amount of influence and songs that don't get old.
Joy Division: Yes, minimalist music at it's best
Elliott Smith: Yes, An MB Hall of Fame wouldn't feel the same.
The Beatles: Yes, the ultimate pop band.
King Crimson: Yes, see Elliott Smith.
Wu-Tang Clan: Yes, my favourite Hip-Hop group.
The Velvet Underground: Yes, in WL/WH you can trace everything i'm into massively these days.

You don't have to say yes to them all

Can't we just let the ones that got through nominations just be inducted?

Led Zeppelin: No, don't feel they're that important
Joy Division: Yes, a very important Post-Punk
Elliott Smith: Yes, because he's Elliott mutha ****ing Smith
The Beatles: The most important pop band ever
King Crimson: No, because i'm not fan
Wu-Tang Clan: One of the best rap groups to ever come out of the east side
The Velvet Underground: One of the most important bands ever

Led Zeppelin: No, because frankly theyre just not very good
Joy Division: Yes, because it took aerosmith 12 albums to do what they did in two
Elliott Smith:Yes, because even though i think beck is more deserving, he's probably the most popular singer-songwriter on MB
The Beatles: Yes, because well, theyre the beatles what more is there to say?
King Crimson: Yes, because they are one of the few prog bands i actually consider listenable
Wu-Tang Clan: No, because there are so many more deserving rap groups
The Velvet Underground: No, because even though i voted yes before, well lets just say they havent grown on me

Joy Division...Aerosmith? I don't see the connection at all. Both completely different bands in terms of genre, image and asthetic.

Led Zeppelin - Yes, because they're very defining of powerful, guitar-driven rock. Their music is fantastic and their influence can be rivaled by only a few.

Joy Division - Yes, because they were one of the best, most influential post-punk bands.

Elliott Smith - No, because he didn't produce enough music and the music he did produce, while great, isn't transcendent enough to overlook his tragically short career.

The Beatles - Yes, because they made a ton of great pop records and their influence in popularizing the form is unmatched. Their music is probably the most recognizable in the Western world.

King Crimson - Yes, because their music is great and their influence on progressive rock can't be overstated.

Wu-Tang Clan - Yes, because they were brilliant and they added much needed diversity to the form of hip-hop.

The Velvet Underground - Yes, because they made some of the most interesting, memorable and beautiful pop and rock music and their influence is up there in the class with the Beatles and Zeppelin. A defining band in music history.
