The Best Supergroup Ever

Just wondering who you thing the best supergroup would be composed of. The members could come from any genre or time period and they can be living or dead. This should be very interesting.

badmusicisbad 10-24-2008 01:57 PM

Sun Ra, Merzbow, John Coltrane, Diamanda Galas, Charles Mingus, and Stockhausen.

edit: Rashied Ali as drummer

FaSho 10-24-2008 02:01 PM

Beck and Cladiuo Sanchez would be kind of cool, still gotta think on it though.

Minstrel 10-24-2008 02:42 PM

Brian Wilson, Dusty Springfield, Johnny Marr and Mani.

No idea on drummer. I really know nothing about drumming. All competent drummers sound pretty much the same to me.

The Unfan 10-24-2008 06:40 PM

Pop Will Eat Itself.

dac 10-24-2008 10:15 PM

Beck + Tom Waits

Bulldog 10-25-2008 11:47 AM

Anyone remember Electronic? They were a very hit and miss - didn't quite live up to their promise in my opinion.

Anyway, for me;

David Bowie
Warren Ellis
Nick Cave
Adrian Belew
Robert Fripp
David Sanborn
Pete Thomas

Haha dude it's a hypothetical thread. It's asking who you think would be in the best super group.

Thebig3 has learned 'Irony' and used it extremely well with his original post. Big3-are you sure you are not British?

dac 10-26-2008 12:14 AM

I'm confused :(

WendyCal 10-26-2008 02:47 AM

Kelly Clarkson, Barbara Streisand and Nick Cave for Vocals
Hendrix on Lead Guitar (of COURSE)
Ringo on drums
i don't know who to put on bass guitar ~ the guy from Guns N Roses ~ Sludge? Slick? Well, something... SLASH! Yeah, Slash.

Because hes ****ing incredible at it.

Look at my last post in the Buckethead thread, and listen to some of it. Then you will know why. IMO hes just as good at bass as guitar.

Dream Collaborations

I've been intrigued recently with many artists teaming up to create 'supergroups'. Like Them Crooked Vultures and The Dead Weather. I was interested in hearing what you guys and girls thought about various collaborations, or if you yourself had any people you'd like to see team up. It doesn't matter how obscure your ideas are (even if you know they wont happen), just say 'em.

I wouldn't mind hearing something from Trent Reznor and Steven Wilson and think it would be pretty unique. After hearing Wilsons' 'Insurgentes' album quite a while back I wondered what he and Reznor would do. Seeing as they both love production as well and are more than capable of independently releasing something. Hmm...

Freebase Dali 07-27-2010 12:41 AM

I'd like to see Richard D. James produce an album recorded by Chino Moreno as singer to Danny Carrey drumming, Chris Hannah on rhythm guitar, Carlos Santana on lead, Thom Yorke on keys, and Christopher Walken on the cowbell.

I actually really would like to see that.

Dr_Rez 07-27-2010 12:46 AM

Htae to be a buzzkill but hasnt there been like 10 threads about the exact same topic?

http://www.musicbanter.com/general-m...roup-ever.html for starters.

Hey you're totally right.

Merging in 3...2...1...

(add a lot of seconds to the clock because I actually have to search through thousands of posts to find the original thread IN THE FORUM to mark it.)

DiSTANToblivion 07-27-2010 12:52 AM

Whoops, ahh my bad. Nothing came up for some reason. Cheers.

Freebase Dali 07-27-2010 12:57 AM

I was just kidding about having to search through thousands of posts, but yea, a good idea for searching for posts is to click on the "Advanced" link when searching, and selecting the option for "search titles", that way you don't come up with results for every post on this entire site that contains the word(s) you searched...

DiSTANToblivion 07-27-2010 01:04 AM

Thanks man, won't happen again.

It will. Maybe not by you, but I keep that speech saved in notepad for copy&pasting for a reason. ;)

RVCA 07-27-2010 01:08 AM

going off of oblivion's thread: Mercury and Bellamy? That would be hot sauce.

jtwilliams 07-27-2010 01:15 AM

How bout one that happened but didn't put out an album just a cover song?

The Dirty Mac

John Lennon - Rhythm Guitar & Vocals
Eric Clapton - Lead Guitar
Keith Richards - Bass
Mitch Mitchell - Drums

They covered The Beatles Yer Blues. Its an awesome cover too. I WISH they had put out a whole album. Would have been amazing.

Alex/ 07-27-2010 01:27 AM

You know the line up of Temple of the Dog? Yeah.

hahaha, oh I see

Okay everyone, who do you think had the best vocal pairing? I liked 'Under Pressue' with Bowie and Mercury but I don't think it was the best... too many to choose from as well.

Dayvan Cowboy 07-27-2010 07:45 AM

Richard D. James (aphex twin) on drum machines and laptop
Tyondai Braxton (battles/ solo artist) on vocals put through a guitar pedal
Nic Offer (!!!) onstage dancing like a fool
Ian Williams (battles/Don Cab) on guitar/keys
Damon Che (don cab) on drums
Marcus Eoin and Mike Sandison (boards of canada) on analogue synthesizers
Jonsi (sigur ros) on vocals
Pat Morris (also don cab) on bass

the genre would be experimental/math rock/electronic/awesome
