What do you mean by that?

And yes I am pretty sure, ill check now.

It seemed like everyone heard what sound KOL evolved into and hated it because it wasn't like their earlier albums, completely ignoring that the songwriting, vocals, and instruments are performed better than on any other KOL album. Pitchfork went so far as to call them a U2 cover band.

Pitchfork doesn't know what there talking about 50% of the time. And i agree, everything about the album sounded better. They seemed to grow as musicians alot since there last album.

I've only got a handful of albums released this year, and the only ones that really impressed me are Nick Cave's 'Dig Lazarus Dig' (easily the pick of the year for me), Mercury Rev's 'Snowflake Midnight' and the self-titled effort from the Week That Was. Good to see all these nominations though - I'll definitely have to check a few of them out in future

Then you're just as misguided as those idiots who overhyped it.

Vampire Weekend may be the most dull album of the year. There's no hooks, no real melodies, and they fail to bring anything to the album except mediocre indie rock. If you like indie music, try these instead:

Bon Iver - For Emma Forever Ago
Bonnie "Prince" Billy - Lie Down in the Light
Calexico - Carried to Dust
Wolf Parade - At Mount Zoomer

Piss Me Off 11-06-2008 08:49 AM

Woah, i can't stand Vampire Weekend but there's EASILY hooks there. Has A Punk never been stuck in your head for hours?
