All time Favourite Radiohead track?

Same criteria as the Pink Floyd thread.

I am hoping this has'nt been done before. I will make an official thread when all the nominations are in ONE MONTH from today. Choose your track and explain why you chose it. I will then compile a MB top ten poll and use the best appraisals for each song in the top ten. GO.

jackhammer 11-30-2008 01:31 PM

I am stuck between:

Talk Show Host
Fake Plastic Trees
All I Need
Weird Fishes
Bangers & Mash

Anteater 11-30-2008 01:38 PM

Lol, I knew this day would come eventually. Hard to pick just one...

1. There There (The Boney King Of Nowhere) - Probably my favorite just due to its sheer emotional power.
2. How To Disappear Completely
3. Weird Fishes/Arpeggi
4. Pyramid Song
5. Electioneering

Double X 11-30-2008 01:41 PM

Being fairly new with the band, I am gonna go with Paranoid Android. Still my favorite even though it's one of their well known songs.

mannny 11-30-2008 01:44 PM

This is going to be a very tough decision.

Stuck between:
The National Anthem
Pyramid Song
Life in a Glass House
Exit Music
Motion Picture Soundtrack

No idea how I'm going to narrow it down.

Blue 11-30-2008 01:51 PM

How To Disappear Completely is mine, though it's partly because it was a bench mark of sorts for me.

I find it hard to pick between the rest though....

Motion Picture Soundtrack
Pyramid Song
You and Whose Army
Planet Telex
Fake Plastic Trees
Bulletproof....I Wish I Was
Street Spirit
There There
Reckoner
Videotape
Kid A
Exit Music
Karma Police

B sides like Banana Co. and Gagging Order are really great tunes too.

Bulldog 11-30-2008 01:52 PM

I don't listen to a lot of Radiohead, but I still have a few favourites (however 'obvious' they may be).

Paranoid Android
Idiotheque [sp?]
I Might Be Wrong
Go To Sleep
Jigsaw Falling Into Place

I'll listen to them again and edit this post with explanations for each in the near future...

dac 11-30-2008 02:22 PM

Life in a Glass House. National Anthem and Exit Music are right behind it.

Astronomer 11-30-2008 02:27 PM

Paranoid Android and Exit Music are the first two that come to my mind.

Double X 11-30-2008 03:33 PM

I like exit music as well, when the song get's fast it's awesome.

sweet_nothing 11-30-2008 04:41 PM

Planet Telex

FireInCairo 11-30-2008 05:48 PM

Hard.

Kid A
idioteque
I must be wrong
There There
No suprises ( it always makes me cry)

Minstrel 11-30-2008 07:22 PM

1. Paranoid Android
2. Weird Fishes
3. Pyramid Song
4. Anyone Can Play Guitar
5. Karma Police

lucifer_sam 11-30-2008 08:09 PM

People here actually listen to Radiohead? I had no idea.

Electioneering for me.

Son of JayJamJah 12-01-2008 12:56 AM

What's a Radio Head?

I'll take Electioneering

15Steps 12-01-2008 01:10 AM

Pyramid Song. Closely followed by;

There There
Weird Fishes
Kid A
How To Disappear Completely

lucifer_sam didn't pick "Lucifer Sam" in the Pink Floyd track thread.

15Steps doesn't pick "15 Step" in the Radiohead track thread.

Blatent false advertising!

Maxwellwebb 12-01-2008 01:42 AM

Oh jeez, has anyone heard Black Star (Acoustic)? I think that's my favorite song.

The Monkey 12-01-2008 04:59 AM

Creep probably.

The only Radiohead song that really caught my attention. OK Computer is such a drag.

In before you get mauled conspicuously :D

My favorite Radiohead track is Paranoid Android. It has the first section, with Yorke singing as if he's really angry (which I love) for a lot of it, like in the line "You didn't remember, you didn't remember, why didn't you remember my name!?!". Then after a great guitar solo with plenty of fast picking and guitar effects, it goes to this beautiful choral work. The three-part harmonies that are so great to sing along with just take you away. And then, after "that loves his children, yeah...", it plays the short acuostic riff and explodes back into the guitar solo and ends with a big finish, just like My Iron Lung and Just, other songs that I love that didn't make the cut for top song.

Thank you and good night

simplephysics 12-01-2008 06:51 AM

Electioneering for me, too.

Climbing Up The Walls, and Idioteque for honorable mentions.

Piss Me Off 12-01-2008 08:35 AM

2+2=5 for me, one of the best openers ever.

FaSho 12-01-2008 09:27 AM

Edit after more extensive istening:

Easy choice.

That's probably my second favorite Radiohead song.

Seltzer 12-01-2008 03:37 PM

The National Anthem

Anybody else prefer their live version to their studio version of this song?

Meph1986 12-01-2008 03:52 PM

Fake Plastic Trees

Street Spirit a close second.

Ja, i like the guitar/crazy man panting.

Datts 12-01-2008 05:18 PM

I cannot say just one song, or even one cd. They're awesome.

And they're better if you listen to the cd on one play (I don't know if it's said this way, my English isn't very good :P)

Both good IMO but the horns are just hypnotic so I'd go studio version. Or better yet, this:

You get horns AND crazy man panting.

Yeh, they did a great version when I saw them in Golden Gate Park.

ProggyMan 12-01-2008 09:21 PM

No Surprises.
Edit: The runners ups are I Will (No Man's Land) and Life In a Glass House.

punchdrunk 12-01-2008 10:12 PM

Nice Dream
Exit Music (for a film)
There There

Son of JayJamJah 12-01-2008 10:14 PM

I want to change my answer to electioneering

So I did, in my previous post.

dac 12-02-2008 12:15 AM

I must say I'm surprised at all of the love for electioneering.

ProggyMan 12-02-2008 12:29 AM

I'm disappointed with the lack of love for I Will. Yeh it's short, so what?

dac 12-02-2008 12:56 AM

Good, but I don't think it would make many top lists.

Planet Telex is my favorite off of the Bends :)

jackhammer 12-02-2008 03:47 AM

Electioneering has a great riff but it's hardly original and could be one of many bands around at that time.
