Depends on how you define "this generation." But assuming it means anything like the 00s, the last decade or since 1990, then yes.

Yes, for every terrible mainstream bands there are tens of very good obscure/fringe bands that are making incredibly solid albums. Every decade has had a slew of dreadful music.
