Sometimes my ipod doesn't register the play button. A song will show up on my screen, the icon will be a triangle (play), but the song does not play. It just sits at 0:00 and I don't get anything.

Perhaps a reset would fix that?

I have tried resetting and restoring my Ipods... they pretty much just flat out fail. I read somewhere that 10-20% of hard drives in Ipods fail. Apple really just needs to get their **** together.

nothing like a good ol cheap mp3 player
connect through USB and then drag and drop files
simple controls and excellent sound.

Like a number of iPod users, I like to check out 'Most played' every now and again - get those favourite tunes blasting out.

However, since the ipod has been stuck in the docking station, my 6 year old daughter has had access to it.

Imagine my horror when picking 'Most played' as a playlist, and the first two songs out of the block are Abba's Dancing Queen and, worst of all, The Boy does Nothing by Alesha bleedin' Dixon! (36 plays! How is that possible?!)

Time to reset the play count methinks...

Anyone else suffer from this?

Break a couple of fingers.
It's fast and it works.

I have a 120GB Zune and I love it. There were a few glitches with the updated firmware for them but those are fixed now and the player is nearly flawless.

I just don't like the scroll wheel on the iPods. I don't like the way they look and I just don't like using them. The Zunes look sharper, both the devices themselves and the firmware on them look nicer than the iPods. Plus I don't have to use iTunes, which is the slowest MP3 player I've ever used. The Zune software blows iTunes out of the water, the only thing I wish Zune had is something similar to the Genius function on iTunes. But I can live without that for the sake of everything I wrote above.

My first MP3 player was like that. It had a lot of problems but it was hard to beat the simplicity of loading stuff onto it. Mine was a slightly older model of this:

Yeah my first mp3 player was a model like that :D it was so compact and simple compared to my ipod and i could just drag and drop files onto it. Mine was 512MB so i could only fit about 7 albums or so on it. The only other problem was the sound quality wasnt the best.

I still swear by those mp3 players, i had a 20GB Philips one once but it broke not too long after.

Fact is if you're loading music onto it often it keeps everything fresh, i found with my bigger old one i just kept playing the same old artists out of laziness.

I could never imagine owning an iPod. Fuck that.
